[deleted post]Wait, just found the link. Symbian^2 is Symbian 10 and Symbian^3 is Symbian 11. It shows that these are new OSes and not the same as Symbian 9.4. The reason for the S60 version being the same (with S^2 being 5.1 and S^3 being 5.2) is because it uses the same UI. S^3 is connected to the old Symbian OS but is also part of the new Symbian Platform and the basis of S^4 which is a completely new OS with no links to the older S60 bullsh*t.

Its just how Symbian 7 and 8 are different but in S60, they are all S60v2

Symbian^4 will have new graphical subsystem, but OS will remain the same. Symbian^3 is just a small update of Symbian^1.

Same Sluggish and cheap design....once again NOKIA has proved that they can't even make a good looking and different smartphone.

During the initial presentation, SJ had termed the antenna design as a "brilliant piece of engineering" and "something that had never been achieved before" (or something of the sort). How those words must be stinging him right now.

It is almost a brand new operating system built from the base up. It still has support for S60 apps and an S60-esque UI which is the only think linking it to Symbian 9 and in Symbian^4, there won't be anything connecting the it the old versions with support for S60 apps dropped and a brand new revamped UI, though personally, I don't mind the current one and hope the claimed improvements for Symbian^3 are what they claim, and my guess is I'm probably the only person in the world who likes the UI of Symbian phones, maybe cause its a link to my childhood memories, I don't know why.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2010Which is what they have done with Symbian^3. I should have specified what I was referring to.... moreNo. Symbian^3 is slightly updated Symbian 9.4. It is still Symbian 9.4. Most of updates were done in UI. Symbian^4 will possibly have new UI written on Qt and possibly will drop support for programs written for S60.
But, Symbian still popular because of old programs made for S60. Dropping support for all that base of software will kill Nokia completely. I see no reasons for developers to waste their time to port their old software from S60. By that time most of them will switch to Android. And some of them does not have old sources anymore.

i suppose it's still have 128mb of ram which makes it pretty much useless device. 256mb chip have same size, same power consumption and nearly same cost - just few bucks more.
