waiting, 10 Jun 2016is it online or offline play?Online. You have to have an active internet connection and you have to actually physically move yourself. Take a lot at "Ingress", it's made by the same people with the same principal behind it. Was a lot of fun. Pokemon will be better of course.
I'm confused, is the actual game coming out June 14? Or is that only the livestream? Someone please help
encountered a legendary pokemon in a place then you where about to catch it but then this appers "Connection Error to Server. check internet settings" and you realize you have run out of mobile data... Noooooooo
maybe this should be played on areas with free wifi...
Denzill, 09 Jun 2016Have you played ingress you don't have to be near a big city you just have to leave the houseactually no, i haven't. but i didn't question the general playability. what i meant is that the social component, which i suppose is a major aspect of the game, suffers in areas with lower population density since you're far less likely to encounter another player. unless the game's sole purpose is to get people out of their house at all, together or alone. then i guess you're right, doesn't matter where you live as long as the place offers sufficient mobile network coverage.
but also, there's the events. according to wikipedia, Ingress has those. and this being Pokemon, there will definitely be events as well. wasn't there a CGI-supported trailer some time ago with people gathering in NYC to fight Mewtwo or something? and i think it's likely that these events, only taking place in said major cities, will award exclusive content for physical participation. items, pokemon, ingame currency, stuff like that. so people outside those places would be missing out.
it's just that i can't see this being fun that way... walking around the area on your own, tapping on your smartphone's screen here and there while burning through your mobile data plan.
to be fair, though, i'm lonely, severely depressed and thus somewhere between realism and pessimism. so i wouldn't have fun either way. would be nice if other people did, no matter where they live

mir, 09 Jun 2016Wrong forum, nerd...You're on a website that is entirely focused around tech, phones, tablats and games. I don't think any of us can call someone else a nerd
As an "older teenager" at 27 I'm excited for this. I haven't played pokemon since Yellow came out on the Gameboy Colour and I think it would be fun, especially now I've moved to London
