Roar, 09 Jun 2016I don't use the Small App, so, no issue for me...I didn't use them as well so I deleted them from the system. Now, when I hit the recents button, the screen is so nice and empty :)
You can re-download them from software updates if you really want them back.
If you've followed sony for some time you would understand that the X series units that are out right now are meant to be middle end units with specific features that attract specific customers. Sony is moving away from the rat race of "the fastest CPU, the more RAM the best Screen.. And focusing on what one of the directors coined as "user experience"
This is why you see units that focus on Selfies, others on cameras, others on screen. In this way you can choose the best option for you without having to pay for the premium of a supercomputer flagship device that you will use to take cat pictures.
My prediction is that you will see this format for now on (feature phone mid rangers) and that by the end of the year they will issue a full fledge flagship under the X brand.
Sony is digging his own grave beautifully.Their phones are not offering ANYTHING.Except the high end price.Multitasking? That was a very weak multitasking option. But they removed it,making the problem even worse...If someone needs REAL multitasking, than better to go and buy a Galaxy Note.Than you will know, what it feels like, having a REAL computer in your pocket, that is capable to do EVERYTHING for you!
According to google specification means it should first support picture in picture view of multiwindows before having any custom framework so they might have considered removing their own system completely to replace the official google one
It looks like Sony is planning to destroy their mobile division. first, they downgraded their design with X series and now they are removing one of their unique useful features.
At least the removal of this small app wasn't as bad as the removal of manual mode for camera on XZ1... A 20 megapixel camera capable of taking 8 mp at max *sigh*
When I thought that the Z and M series gonna bring sony forward starting from Z5, the X series will really kill Xperias. My Z5 premium probably gonna be my last Sony device since X series doesn't look promising.
I remember that Sony removed stamina and then re-included it so I hope that this is the case.
What is next ?
Removing the album, music player and become like cheap OEM brands ?
Maybe since there camera software is really bad then they should use another hardware to blame it because the camera hardware is proven to be great.
Maybe it was a sad thing not selling the Xperia brand since others may have done better job.
And they say it is Google's fault, I don't think that they should accept any pressure.
I hope they change their mind
Francis.xx, 09 Jun 2016Who's been making decisions at Sony lately? I really need to see that guy.You don't want to meet him, possibly a yakuza with lot of tattoos...
I'm happy that my Z3 has small apps. For X you can download "tiny apps" app.
Sony decisions this year are terrible, i m using z5 and it s good but after that they made bad decisions, let see what they will do next year. Surely they will correct things. (Like htc)
