BS from a lot of ppl here. I updated to M the day it was released and has been working perfectly.
Better battery life, smoother, and having the apps permission control is icing on the cake.
Yeah the update took forever, but its here now and works beautifully.
I'm very happy with it, better late than never.

I update my zenfone 2 to marshmallow .
I never had a problem on it . My phone now have better performance , never lag , and very smooth . I never regret from upgrading my phone
7 joe, 13 Sep 2016I 2 facing the same issues can u say how 2 downgrade https://www.asus.com/support/Download/39/1/0/13/Lk0Sg1Ulh0Ph49Hl/32/
Go to this link then click firmware. The first description should show you the downgrade file(Android M to Android L).
Issues on mine after I installed MM os.
-and Its not as smooth as before.
When I reboot my phone it keeps showing its updating.
Hopefully ASUS soon release an update with fix on these issues.
I don't get all the whining leading up to this relase. M is really not THAT different from L. There are no earth shaking benefits or features in M. Yes, Asus made a mistake by publicly announcing that it would be released in Q2. Obviously, there were some challenges getting M to work smoothly with the Intel chip. Asus should have communicated better aboout the delay and update public regarding its challenges. Many posters here sounded like it was the end of the world having to wait. Nevermind the silly predictions of never updating...lol.
Now that the update is out, some people are still whining. I haven't had any real problems for almost 2 weeks and the phone does run a little smoother. The things I don't like have only to do with M, but not Asus update specifically. Yes, Asus was delayed in getting this out, but in reading the comments over the last few pages makes many posters look very childish.
I've upgraded my zen2 to MM manually, upgraded it without resetting it first and yes, random stutters, instability and random freezes
I tried to clear partition cache and hard reset from the bootloader, and I haven't see this problems so far, the problem is only at camera when granting some apps permission, it might crash the app
I seriously don't get the grief of mm from you guys.
I manually updated with the 8/31 update a week ago which put me at v6.0.1 and I couldn't be happier. Everything is either exactly the same or better. There is no way I'm gonna toil back to 5.0, you guys are crazy for doing so. It's objectively inferior at this point.

Same here, the phone hanged even when ideal...so reset it to factory version(android M) and using it...although its not hanging now but can't gv a verdict untill 1 week time...asus made a big mistake by relasn android M and i made a mistake by buying asus ZF 2😥😥😥😥

Now instead of having around 500 MB ram free, I have 800 or 900 free. The brightness thing was changed though, does suck. Phone doesn't overheat as much, and yeah, I've had the hanging issue.
I downgraded my phone to lollipop. While I had marshmallow, the phone kept hanging and I had to hold the power button in order to restart the phone. The lowest brightness setting has been changed too, it's much brighter which is bad at night.
The ram usage is more and the phone heats up a lot. Intense gaming will hang your phone. Although the UI is smooth it isn't that stable. At all. Think before manually updating it, there are more cons as compared to pros.
Mac, 06 Sep 2016Still waiting in the U.S. man I hope Asus is going to forgo Marshmallow and opt in Nougat. As ... moreThat'll never happen at the rate Asus releases updates. The zenfone 4 deluxe will be coming out by the time this phone gets a stable marshmallow update.
DO NOT install this. This os is not optimized. Os take the 90% of the battery and battery only ran for 18 hours only in stand by mode. ASUS make sure you optimize the OS.
AnonD-108464, 02 Sep 2016The long wait is finally over. Updated to Android 6. ZE551ML is working smoothly. Thanks Asus.Isn't the OS still consume the battery ina savage manner???
The latest, long awaited upgrade to Android Marshmallow on Asus zenfone2 (ze551ml) somehow ended up with a loss of hope for many customers. I personally faced lot of issues, naming few: - phone hangs up every now and then, and i need to force restart, : FM receiver doesn't work properly, :Unable to take calls using earphones. It doesn't seem to be recognizing mic of the external earphones(initially i thought that its a problem with my earphones and verified the issue with a couple of other earphones). Many have reported several other issues like proximity sensor not properly functional, phone getting overheated, etc.
Even ASUS themselves have provided a downgrade to Android L, soon after they released Android M upgrade. So, the verdict is not to hurry towards this upgrade, as this doesn't seem promising.
