Every mobile OS has it's pros and cons. Having used several OSes: currently juggling between iOS, Symbian^1, & WinMom6.5, Symbian comes strong when it comes to telephony, owed consumption, and intuitive enough to be used single handedly.

Nokia is confident enough to use a 680mhz chip and 256ram because it's what the system only requires. While minimum specs are required, what matters is the execution and optimization of OS.

Just look at SE Xperia X10, despite it's snapdragon chip, the device lags when using UXP and has no innate mechanism in terminating apps (ie: it runs all all opened apps but do not suspend them resulting to consumption of all available RAM). Add to that the usual ailment of having to charge daily.

Manufacturers do not force you to buy their phones, it's up
to you to buy what you prefer. The Nokia 88xx series and Vertu, for example, possess few features at a price that rivals even jewelries.

Kuba, 18 Aug 2010anyone who pust N8 over galaxy s or similar android phone must be mentally ill:) or really fai... moreDefine the term outdated.

You don't like symbian. Thats understood but please try to be a little more sensible in your analysis. The 5800 was a success in its right. Its still selling by the day till this moment. But still, i guess it'll take a higher level of rationale than that you presently posses to understand that while s^1 was a hurried response by a sleeping company to a new age, S^3 is the product of years of experience. One which as is traditional of symbian, prioritizes functionality over form.

I'ld put the n8 over galaxy anyday. You have to understand the difference between specsheets and actual field performance. What can the galaxy do that the n8 can't JUST AS WELL? The other way around, the list is endless. Don't get me started.

Whats a redneck? Not in my dictionary. In my country, everyone uses a nokia. Ask why? Quality, Performance, cost and aftersales support. Thats what makes the worlds largest manufacturer.

And for you android thumbers, be advised. Symbian is still the os to beat. A very very large, much larger than any other, percentage of smartphones run loyal. And thats s^1 i'm talking about.

I'm totally fed up waiting for this phone. I just want an Android on 2,2 that can shoot decent photos and video. When is the Samsung i8520 Beam coming to Europe?!

anyone who pust N8 over galaxy s or similar android phone must be mentally ill:) or really faithful Nokia fan. look at 5800, N97, these phones were so poor, epic fails. and N8 will fail as well. Nokia isn't anymore a high-end. in my country only rednecks use nokias. seriously i'd prefer ANY android phone over the N8. Symbian ^3 is already outdated.

Further a comment on the Blackberry Torch "price-cut", it only applies when you make a 2-year contract. I seriously doubt that the true unlocked price was cut at all. 100$ is peanuts when you pay 1500$+ in total over 2 years.

The Nokia N8 price did not go up, it is still 370€ WITHOUT TAXES. Please correct your news.

It generally pays to wait a couple of months with N-series phones. The pre-release prices are usually a bit inflated.

I don't see the BB9800 price cut. On both ATT and Best Buy sites it's sold for 199. You don't even mention a link or source in your "news".

As a News Author , you should find out the real "statement" before writing a proper news. In fact , you didn't , the Nokia n8 370 euro price was before tax and subsidies which Nokia mentioned previously.
Please do , change what you've written or something . It just isn't right. We do not want false news and furthermore from a Company that has reputation.
