Anonymous, 26 Aug 2010this came from the 80s. who da fuk still walk around with speakers/Did you ever think that maybe the speaker is not mainly meant for music? It's great for listening to people on speakerphone when talking and conference calls, voice guided GPS navigation, streaming and watching videos from maybe youtube with friends or whatever. Maybe it even makes the ringtone sound higher in noisy places. Weak speakers hae always been a bad spot in phones for any kind of use.

b, 25 Aug 2010FFS i wanted slide out KEYBOARD NOT speaker..... argh!!dduuuhhhhhh.... it has both mate!
lolme, 25 Aug 2010(first of all i should say thats solely an opinion)
well if you have grids at the back the so... moreGenerally, i know people to place their phones on a hard surface face down when they intend to play music over speaker so thats not a problem.
But here is a problem, how would the audio sound if you don't slide out the grid?
b, 25 Aug 2010FFS i wanted slide out KEYBOARD NOT speaker..... argh!!Dude, it's a sideslider, not a single slideout.. so it also has a keyboard, read my comment at 19:38
Claudia, 25 Aug 2010Is me or is this phone really ugly? As an desire owner have seen no handset leaked from Htc in... moreNo, i think it's just you. When will people learn never to judge the looks of a phone from pictures, it's not even near reality.
You are talking about the HTC Desire, go look at the pictures of HTC Desire on GSMarena and it looks like one ugly and boring phone, but in real life Desire looks great.
Is me or is this phone really ugly? As an desire owner have seen no handset leaked from Htc in last few days that would make me want to buy another phone from them they are all to ugly and to big.
Maybe it is a sensor QWERTY that switches on its lights when the phone is on?
For people that didn't get it or have hard time with the english language it clearly says that's it's "sideslider", which means it slides out both ways. Remember Nokia N95? Also a sideslider.
And they continue to say the "lower" part of the slider is the speaker which means the upper part of the slider which slides out the other way is a keyboard.
Now alot of you don't need to be confused anymore.
this is hardly big news samsung did the same thing ages ago with one of their mp3 players, lets have something a bit more interesting like when will apple realise what else bluetooth can do....
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010at all!
phones actually take mp3 players out! look around.. what u see is iPods or cellphones... moreI am not saying phones do not make good music devices. Actually when you look at the 3 devices phone can replace:
Portable Gaming System
Some phones are practically MP3 players. Sony's Walkman software in their W phone in the past were really good MP3 players. But look at SE's offering now. Motorola had their ROKR line and that vanished. Nokia is the only company I see really doing something with their MusicXpress line and that may be because in the past they never really had a music line.
I also think it is a silly idea. If external speakers were so much in demand iPods would have done it eventually. It makes the device unnecessarily expensive when a good headphone port and headphones would work fine.
r 3 b 3 l, 25 Aug 2010Dude, ipods are essentially mp3 players.
This concept, however original, is really really p... more(first of all i should say thats solely an opinion)
well if you have grids at the back the sound you hear comes from reflection of the sound waves on nearby objects and those passing through the phone itself(for 2nd think about yrself: when you talk, the sound you hear is not the same as what other people hear)
so placing at the front + stand makes the sound waves go directly to you thus increase in volume and quality.
Nice looking phone, hopefully a keyboard will slide out the other way :)
