Atleast android should have 3 years of major software update + 1 year security patches !
HeartGold69, 22 Jun 2016Ipad 2 (2011) will get ios 10, do you know what that means? It means that apple cares about th... moreno it means you will have to buy a new ipad. an apple gets 2 years of solid updates, on the 3rd year the update kills your phone, and remember with apple there is 0 way to roll back to the previous version.
Carol, 23 Jun 2016Ever used an iphone 4s with the latest ios? That is called downgrade, not update. Lumia 520 on... moreTrue! Apple is certainly overrated. The reason people still say nice things about iPhone that isn't true is because, they just can't say they bought a phone that's one of the most expensive- but can't do things that a entry level smartphone can. Apple fanboys, everyone's getting tired of you.
Apple users, stop being ridiculous.
Nexuses should get updates for up to 5 years. The smartphone market is slowing down and there is no need any more to buy a new phone every 2 years. Maybe then, manufacturers will follow and release more updates.
Anonymous, 22 Jun 2016that's why people loves iphone so muchGive me a reason.
Apple offers updates to its old phone but they become slower.

That is called downgrade, not update. Lumia 520 on win 8.1 works 2 times faster. So come on people. Stop prasing that company for nothing more then othr companies also have to offer... This apple mania is already pathethic and exagerated to the point of becoming a mocking subject. The only ones that think apple is better are the ones that never used a product from them or the ones that never used other products but theirs. A tech savvy will stop licking apple back right from the first 10 minutes of entering their ecosystem. Cause is just nothing better but just bragging with no results. Oh iphones take greater pictures, they always said. A statement that was never true and still isn't. Browsing and entire os usage os not faster ider, is just placebo of what they want for people to think. Everyday usage my lumia 950xl is faster then my bosses iphone 6;). And funny, more rellyable when it comes to internet connection and browsing.
Fahoodi, 22 Jun 2016Why wouldn't you go for it. The N6p is flawless and nexus line is first to get all the latest ... morethe main reason we got nexus is wanna a long term software update.
n6p with good speaker and screen but after long gaming time I can see it easier get laggy compare to s7 edge.
This is not an issue in the US, where Nexus are cheap. I think many will be buying them at a yearly basis anyway.
In many countries outside US, however, Nexus phones are sold at a much higher price, matching other flagship Android phones and iPhones. This makes the decision even harder. Sure, the draw of timely updates is great, and 2-year of updates is still the best of class support compared to any other non-Nexus phones. But it now feels that it forces people to splurge for a new Nexus every 2 years at the least, and it's a lot of money (again, Nexus prices in many countries outside US are multiple times more expensive). There will be some people that would just think "I will be spending that much money anyway, might as well get an iPhone."
Majority of Android users are still running older version of Android. Google now is adding to the problem by making older Nexus to be part of that pie.
Rotikia, 22 Jun 2016bro..which samsung model you using now? My s6 edge plus and s7 edge got latest firmware update... moreI do believe you, but that's only because they're still kinda 'new'.
I had the Galaxy S2, S3, 2xS4 (one for 6months, the other one for a year). I am now using the Sony Xperia Z5 as i got tired of the slowdowns. I'm not saying that Sony is any better, but i am at least getting stable updates even if i have to wait a bit longer for it.
Love Samsung, their UI and features, but...just tired of what they're doing.
And now this, Look at what Google is doing with their Nexus lineup.
Estimu, 22 Jun 2016Ppl commenting about iphone and android updates XD i think the info is pretty clear and won't ... moreHm no, the updates it's not a free stuff, it's part of the post-sale service and ironically the Nexus series was known for the longer update promise... But that feature is now gone.
Ppl commenting about iphone and android updates XD i think the info is pretty clear and won't change so if u change ur phone before the 2 year mark it's ok, if u don't, be aware to think before buying (at least Nexus) either way is good to have that info available for all (i see as a good thing from google)
what i can wonder is if there should be a anual payment to the companies to keep the upgrades (like anti-virus works) would be good... then i read the comments and remember people want everything (the best of best) always free...
You don't even have to read the comments to know it's just gonna full of a bunch of ifans claiming how iphones get longer updates....
Sure...but those two years of updates usually has more changes and worthy updates than the lifespan of a couple iphones....which will still be behind the more advanced and feature packed Droids.
So stop being so jealous and blind
They should be making it a bit longer as devices get more powerful which increases its lifetime; as with desktop computers these days.
tonywave, 22 Jun 2016Apple provide longer software support... sure, when u pay for the high price u can buy 2 nexus... moreOr you buy one nexus device now...use it for 2 years, then get a newer more powerful nexus to use for another 2 years and then repeat! :D and you'll have a new phone with new features every 2 years than an 1 old iPhonedevice
To imagine - I considered buying an expensive Nexus model because they get the new updates first. Well, they may do, but only 2 years????
Iphone 4s from 2011 is running ios9 in 2016. That is five years of support. Shame on Google. My next phone will be an iphone.
