There should be some kind of certified badge on the box that comes with each devices which state how long a device will be updated for (minimum years). Ofcourse with carrier phones it's different but there really should be a minimum number specified on retail boxes.
I still have I-phone 5 (2012) and last year I bought Nexus 6P (2015). I am surprise hear this news which Google only update Nexus 6P until September 2017. Just only 2 years.
On the other hand my i-phone 5 has already 4 years and it run ios 9.3.2 that mean up to date. Every time there is update, my iphone 5 got update after 1 or 2 day. No delay at all.
I love android phone more because so many product I can choose, but why Google only take care for 2 years?
So I have to buy a new phone every 3 year? Windows 10 mobile have a lot of problems, but aren't updates forever? This fragmentation is the big problem with Android, Google should release only one version of Android and update it continously forever!
Lol making big fuss over this, yea iphone 4s still got update but with new laggy feature and not all feature available as new iphone 6s software.
Mobile os is almost mature now don't think there is any big update functionality needed anymore.
Btw from that list nexus 7 2013 should and already stop receiving by now which is not, it on latest official 6.0.1 still.
I've seen local phones here in india from chinese manufacturers, mostly unknown brands, having 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, Mediatek Quad-core 1.3 GHz running the latest Marshmallow OS! Oh well, business is business. If they continue to update, newer phones will have less sales.
The hardware on the nexus 6p can be viable for at least the next 4 years. Why not provide updates until the phone can't handle the newer software anymore? Even apple are gracious enough on this regard.
Just now the update has flashed. October 2016 is the last for Nexus 6
If so, why do people insist in buying a nexus phone while other OEM phones have more features ?
Well, there was not much of a reason for getting a phone that Google had all ready buggered, now even less reason..
The nexus 7 listed,is that the WiFi only or the lte ?
If this is the case then I'll opt for xiaomi's devices as I'll get updates (delayed) for a longer period of time
Such a way of drive away clients Google! Personally, not interested on Nexus any more from now!
I am happy I switched over to iOS the last year. Still having the Nexus 6P with me though.
AnonD-504401, 21 Jun 2016Wow just 2 years?
You might as well get a non-Nexus phone if that's the case
Iphone 4s is still getting updates even after 5 years
Step your sh** up android
