Just look at the mighty Symbian OS. Once it was as famous as iOS and Android and now it's not around anymore. Younger generation don't even know about Symbian. And what experience we had with Symbian. So Android and even iOS will die some day and nee OS's will take their place like Android and iOS replace Symbian and WebOS
AnonD-273829, 23 Jun 2016it wont be a good idea, for sure they can sell in china and india pretty well but huawei on... morethat proves you don't know anything about them. huawei is very good in customer support. even old honor 4x and 4c very budget handsets are being updated to Android 6. do you know any other brand provides updated versions of Android at this price range other than moto and huawei
Anonymous, 23 Jun 2016Soon more and more companies will release phones with non-Android operating systems. And that... moreios and mac are the first os who started to collect more than enough information about customers. but nobody complained. when Google started the same everyone is suspicious. and when Microsoft started to do it everybody started to hate the brand. still nobody is concerned about thier provide in apple OSs
Anonymous, 23 Jun 2016maybe Huawei sniffed out their government will restrict chinese-made smartphone using android ... moreJust like foolish prescient candidates in America said about banning outsourcing to Philippians and India. stop bringing products from China. stop using foreign employees etc. if that happen soon other countries will dominate
This OS is being developed in Sweden, so it's got nothing to do with Sailfish.
Possibility that it could use bits of Mer, but even that I doubt.
Huawri is one of the brand i like. please go for sfos or develop meego os as a backup plan from nokia engineers.
This OS it will be Sailfish OS. Linux MeeGo Sailfish OS from Jolla IMHO. It is free and can be substitute for Android, just because is much more flexible and useful. And was already ported to Huawei devices by MeeGo community members.
AnonD-442781, 23 Jun 2016What's terrible about their ui? Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean its terrible. ... moreIt's just a pair of chopstick vs spoon and fork. That's it.
When the first time I used chopstick, I was frustrated and embarrassed. Now I can pick up a peanut easily with chopstick. The key is open minded (think globally), patient, flexible and fast learner.

"Hopefully Huawei will never need to use the OS". Why? Former Nokia developers working with the maker of some of the best hardware around today? Looks like a realistic chance for some interesting phones instead of the dime a dozen bland Googlephones.
Anonymous, 23 Jun 2016i dont think it will succeed...but name NOKIA will never diethanks mate. Nokia is bad news
New OS? please stick with Android or go for other available OS, including Windows 10
Ohh thats why EMUI looks like iOS cause the designer is from a californian brand and used a fruity logo
They can go for Windows, Symbian, Ubuntu, Sailfish, Cyanogenmod, meego, ....
There are so many options, it will be very hard to convince developers to bring apps for a new platform.
American companies acting as surveillance tools for the govt (NSA) china and the rest of the world will have to abandon the american Operating systems sooner or later china and russia are already preparing to develop there own operating systems the world will follow suit.
maybe Huawei sniffed out their government will restrict chinese-made smartphone using android just like they ban google from there?
yeah, we can predict their OS is somewhat similar with android with iOS skin or EMUI skin..
AnonD-252937, 23 Jun 2016If google ever do such thing, I would use an iphone, I don't trust mobile os from chinaIt's funny, though, that you trust Google/Android more. :)) They know more about you thank you or your family does.
If google ever do such thing, I would use an iphone, I don't trust mobile os from china
AnonD-273829, 23 Jun 2016it wont be a good idea, for sure they can sell in china and india pretty well but huawei on... moreyou're missing the point, they're not in competition with android just a backup should something happen. The OSes you mentioned were in competition with android and ios
