Hopefully better than the last version , which is sucked
they better have created the best UI ever , more like the iPhone UI & not like the stock Android 2.0 (thank god its customizable , because its ugly)
I hope they made it "straight forward" (I.e. making calls) then the old one

The rest would probably prefer "GUI" (invented by Apple and COPIED by Microsoft).
Most people would like one click to an icon to get onto the store and get the apps they need.

You can (and always could) download application (or better: software / programs) on your WM device and install it from there directly without the need of a computer.
most of them are not nicely listed in an AppStore; you'll have to know what you're looking for, yet, still, you can do it without a PC. Did you ever bother to visit the programmer's / developer's websites with a WM device, such as Resco and SPB Softwarehouse? Did you ever go to Handango with your WM phone?
As you see, the difference is that there is not 'The AppStore' but many AppStores for WM devices. This is sort of even a good thing since you will find different prices in different stores. And I truly hope that this will stay that way forever!

I want this phone device. As for the OS...still have to think about it but it looks cool. Hopefully, this wont be a fiasco result.
Regardless of whether you like applications or not, whether they are useful or not, they are a necessity. an OS platform is made or broken in its applications, ease of accessing new ones, and their quality. WM phones have a huge repetoire of apps, i agree, but most have to be sourced via a backhanded download from a computer or web browser, then installed to the memory etc. Any OS that hopes to be successful has to have a good, easy and simple to use app store.

It quite amuses me to see people bashing Windows Mobile, yet, their writing style tells me that they're either bored kids or don't know how to use a device into-deep anyway.
No matter what cell phone I had, there was always a 2nd one laying on my desk with WM on it.
BTW: Why would I want to buy crappy apps if I can develop my own for WM? I've done so since the very beginning and MS has made it easy these days to get started even in Windows Mobile programming (Visual Studio).
The only thing that might prevent me from an instant switch is the incompatibility to older WM programs. Already on my current HD2, the problem of not being able to use a standard stylus for programs which require it turns out being a problem. This fact made me buy now a lower-spec'ed HTC Touch Pro2 even though the HD2 amazed me in any other aspect.
People claim that WM7 won't be customizable.
Well, up to now, any WM-based device has been more customizable than anything else on the market. I still remember the exact same claims back in time with WM6. A while later, we had SPB's Mobile Shell and shortly after other amazing customized screens programmed by the manufacturer's themself, such as Samsung and HTC ...
go back here in the comments and see that an iPhone user complaint about customization! Now my question: How much can you customize an iPhone (besides changing the wallpaper and put an icon inside a folder)?
Neo, 02 Sep 2010This is going to fail!...hahahahahaha....where the apps?. People like apps now a days!! wake u... moreThe thing is that apps are radically over rated. Out of all the apps that are out there, and the dozens that people load on their iPhones, how many are used? Most people run around looking for free apps, load them on the phone use them once or twice then they just sit there. I mean the Windows OS was never in the past used for App, those things had full blown progams, and even at that Window was one of the first to have downloadable progams we call apps. Just it was software back then. You trying to bash a company that started the app game, just Apple dumbed it down exponentally and profited more off it. This thing is following the same layout at the Zune HD devices it looks like, so it'll take some time but I really do thing that potential of this OS will be so much greater then anything out there. If they do it right and the hardware is done right, you'll have a device that'll be wirelessly linked to you home computer (considering its a PC). This has the potential to be something really big, it's all down to Microsoft and it's vendors not to screw it up.
It looks better but it is not customizable as android os. Android allow users to change a lot but this os will be limited.
Wake up and smell the coffee MS. By the time this thing is ready for the market we will no longer want this and may hear of WP 7.1 or 7.5 update 2-4 weeks after launch. This Sucks!
Lets say WM6.5 was Windows Vista, the question is:
"Are Microsoft going to do another Windows 7?"
Neo, 02 Sep 2010This is going to fail!...hahahahahaha....where the apps?. People like apps now a days!! wake u... moreThe problem has been that no one has been able to make a stable PC style interface yet that is not shaky. But this time i think microsoft actually pulled it off. Now we have to wait for HTC and their brilliant engineers to make Winddows Phone 7 device and we are good to go.
Neo, 02 Sep 2010This is going to fail!...hahahahahaha....where the apps?. People like apps now a days!! wake u... moreApps are for children. Do you have widget apps with cartoon interface on your computer or do you have proper serious programs? All phones are becoming computers. The PC style intergrated bars and live and harddrive interface has always been the best to navigate on computers and phones for those who want to evolve their phone to more than i toy. only iPhone is still stuck.
This is going to fail!...hahahahahaha....where the apps?. People like apps now a days!! wake up windows! Same crap under a new skin!
This is absolutely great news, Windows 7 will be one more platform to work with, that means more choice for us users, furthermore, if it's been tested as they say,it will work, few companies test anything before launching and we get stuck with non working phones all the time,i won't name anybody, who's got a fresh apple for me ?
This is the most genius homescreen ever made, then comes Symbian and Android. The liveupdating interface looks top-notch for the purpose. I phone should be able to live update everything in your life straight on the homescreen as it happens, instead of iPhones stupid press tap every 30 min and having to go into 20 different apps and get infos and updates. Good for serious, proffessional and people with ambitions to always stay one step ahead. iPhone and their press cartoon looking apps that makes toy animals sounds widgets is for fruitcakes, wannabes and 14 year old girls.
Great work Microsoft, i am impressed!
And i support the fact that User Interface won't be changed or customized by other manufacturers, for e.g. (Touchflow or Touchwiz)
