Just got an email that the first batch shipped on July 12th. The next two batches ship in the next 2 weeks. The waterproof coating was jettisoned though.
Its all got a bit ridiculous. It started off as this amazing device and bit by bit its been downgraded. As if thats not bad enough, its taken so long to release that the technology is now 2 years old. Bluetooth 4.0....Snapdragon 801. Concept wise its great, but I'm just not sure about the processor spec or the choice of os - Sailfish.
AnonD-554898, 30 Jun 2016Second that. In addition to being inherently broken in pretty much every respect. Kernel? brok... moreyou want to credit NSA 4 what illuminati(means it's my 'grand'son) does that s why keeps repeating
AnonD-5197, 29 Jun 2016They throw around words like "security" all the time while a lot of people who actually might ... moreSecond that. In addition to being inherently broken in pretty much every respect. Kernel? broken. Services? Bloated/Broken (just not visible to normal people). Privacy? Joking right!? Don't think there exist such a word in the Apple Dictionary.
It's not that that isn't impressive but who let's their phone get run over by an excavator or a car or anything remotely that heavy? And even if by accident, it will be a very very small number.
They should do the usual drop tests, front down, on a small pebble (I bet some of you cringed a little picturing this in your head). Drop them in the corners like we always do by accident. These are the real everyday drops that majority of people will suffer one time or another. Then let's see how well those nice sharp corners will hold up.
AnonD-554653, 29 Jun 2016It runs Android. It runs on Sailfish OS 2.0
It's nice to see a novel design for the body, in an era when every phone basically looks like a HTC One/iPhone.
AnonD-551967, 29 Jun 2016im saying a car could do more damage than an excavator because of the tracks in the excavator ... morebetween the 'teeth' are pocket of space, a direct hit from the 'teeth' will smash the phone for sure.
Could've been better if they used Motorola's ShatterShield Solution... Pretty sure everyone prefer a scratched display that a shattered one..
AnonD-554653, 29 Jun 2016It runs Android. it runs (will run) Sailfish OS, which is compatible with Android apps but it's not the same OS, also not some forked Android like some Chinese manufacturers make.
AnonD-551967, 29 Jun 2016im saying a car could do more damage than an excavator because of the tracks in the excavator ... morePrecisely. The key here is pressure/ weigh distribution.
Frankly a woman with needle thin high heels could probably do more damage and hence be more scientifically valid despite looking more like a fetish video than phone torture test (I'll not go into the kind of video that this idea brings up...).
Wide tracks make less pressure, hence tanks can go trough any kind of soil/terrain, and why there are tractors with tracks instead of the huge tires (huge tires also there for the same purpose).
