Jeffdvx, 11 Jul 2016You don't know anyone who uses WhatsApp? Sounds like you live in a cave on the moon or something lolI think it's fairly dependent on where you are in the world. I can't think of anyone I know of who uses it here.

Julliard, 11 Jul 2016Symbian entering its coffin slowly. i would honestly invest tens of thousands of dollars to bring the operating system back.... i even called and had correspondence with nokia but they dont care anymore... they need to sell to the masses so Android it is...

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2016Lol the complete comment section of this article is a joke. Nobody really uses Symbian anymore :Dspeak for yourself buddy

this dead os still has more global market share than garbage Windows phone...

but brain dead mind less people that care about new distractions and apps buy Android or ios... think about it... nsa monitoring can happen with backdoors in these U.S. only made oses.... why are all oses made in the U.S.? why?

why did they kill off Symbian?
cuz it was secure. no location bs, no nsa backdoors, no advertising, no camera without a shutter, etc.... look at pictures of zuckerberg, the Facebook guy, and see how he covers things in the background and dismantles the microphones in his devices...

but yeah, u go ahead and download ur new waste of time app and turn a blind eye to this important stuff.

Puneet Singh Bajwa, 11 Jul 2016I really loved symbian..hope someday someone brings an device with modern specs... It was way... morei agree with you wholeheartedly.... i would pay thousands of dollars for a phone like that... matter of fact, i even wanted to see if i could find some investors to buy and resurrect Symbian once again... was even willing to put in about $50,000....

Symbian is a secure os. imagine all the specs of a galaxy s7 edge but its os is Symbian belle FP2, or carla or donna, or whatever else they would have had by now.... it is truly such a shame an amazing os like this went to this...

the masses never got the chance to truly see how amazing belle FP2 was... my LG G4 used to surf the web at my house is nothing compared to my Nokia 808...

Shniderx, 11 Jul 2016I think this is the 1st time I read "Symbian" since last year or the year before it ,, I thoug... morenot dead yet... matter of fact, the operating system is so advanced for its time, its fully functional with 2016. i have a nokia 808PV
belle FP2 and much rather have this secure os than any other os, as they are all now made in the US... think about it. a us company bought nokia, just to kill the os, and now all three oses around the globe are us based...
Android, ios, and the doa Windows phone gargabe.

Symbian still has a higher market share than garbage Windows...

spyware, backdoors, nsa monitoring, advertising, gps location sent to server, etc, Symbian was locked.... all other oses have this hollow leak built into them. Symbian was solid, that's why they got rid of it

WhatsApp is no longer cross platform messaging, under FB they aggressively drop support for various platform.
Currently there's little reason to use WhatsApp unless your friends or relatives use it.

God, 11 Jul 2016oh god. What to do i do. I am not having any android, ios, windows phone. I am a symbiam user. Symbian is honestly an amazing operating system. it was far ahead of its time with features built into the os, flexibility and battery life.
it is such a shame what happened to it. i still use and truly love belles os fp2... much more advanced than my music player and internet surfer LG G4. Symbian doesn't reload n refresh pages, everything runs perfectly...

OK, I might know one girl who uses it but she also has Facebook messenger, just like everyone else. And I can check FB messages on Opera Mini on my N8, but if someone needs me urgently they just call or send an SMS.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2016Nexus 5 will have WhatsApp support for a very long time, I think at least the next 10 years. E... moreYeah but you think of it in a wrong way. Just because a phone will receive ROM support it doesn't mean that the device's architecture will be supported in the future. Example, back in the day there were ARMv5 and ARMv6 devices that while they were recieving support from CM their architectures were obsoleted thus apps would drop support for the devices while they were way ahead in Android version minimum requirement. I could see Android dropping ARMv7 and x86 support in 2-3 years which would make all 32-bit based devices stuck on any current version they are in.
