AnonD-90109, 31 Jul 2016Verizon Note 4 has already received 6.01, that will be the last update for the Note 4 I believ... moreI agree but here's the thing about it. As a result of the Note 5 not being released in Europe Samsung happily carried on selling the Note 4 for an extra 12 months knowing full well they are not going update it any longer than usual. If Samsung really wanted to surpass the Note 5 for the S6 Edge plus in Europe why did they carry on selling the Note 4 from the previous year at the same time? I can hardly blame people in Europe for being angry at them.
Sam, 31 Jul 2016Will Samsung galaxy S5 get this? My phone didn't get even marshmallow yetOfficial from Samsung? No Sam, but there always be someone who will make your dream come true on xda devs website. For Mars
Will Samsung galaxy S5 get this?
My phone didn't get even marshmallow yet
Still stuck on the 5.0.2 on galaxy alpha... I'm done sammy with your handicaped 5.0 devices that are stuck forever with no reason!!!! (Sorry for bad english)
AnonD-531052, 31 Jul 2016i think i am on the safe side with my galaxy s6 egde plus because of its 4GB ram i might get ... moreNo you won't! Your device was released on Lollipop. You got the first upgrade to Marshmallow and you will get the last one to Nougat(i assume Sammy will give you that in March2017-May2017). And that will be it. No more official updates for you!!! Enjoy the Samsung mid year update cycle. Its the one of the reason i don't buy Note/Edge+ devices anymore.
AnonD-552441, 31 Jul 2016I still haven't received 6.0 on my Note 4 hoping to get 7.0 on time :D Verizon Note 4 has already received 6.01, that will be the last update for the Note 4 I believe, you will not see Android 7.0 before you see Android 6.0.
Another 1/2 year to get it on S7 and another 1/2 year to fix all bugs! So better to say Android 7 - summer 2017!
eighter Samsung Galaxy J7 SM-J700F 2015 model or Moto g4 plus is capable to get Android 7.0 Nougat...
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2016If you have Note5 you don't need to buy Note7. Note7 actually targets Note 4 and Note 3 users.... moreCheers,.. though I think your post was to the forum, and not me. (I am not a Note 5 user- the post you respond to confirms that as well)
Also I am against buying new tech regularly. Not ethical for our planet.
Hence why I buy flagships and learn how to look after my stuff.
My studio speakers are from the sixties, the amp powering them from the seventies.
Theatre receiver is fifteen years old (that is everything with regards to surround sound formats and DAC- quite out of date but I persevere, using 8channel inputs and a flagship bluray player from quite a few years ago)
Laptops and all PCs are greater than five years old.
Solid state drive upgrades and a four year old video card to keep relevant...
My projector is 720p
My car is from the nineties.
All my old phones are in pristine condition. Still got two nokia 'communicators' even.
Plasma TV by Pioneer, the LCD from before that rotated on to the daughters room.
She has an iPad2...
My newest aquisition; a modern iPad; and I will use it till it breaks, or it gets rotated on...(highly unlikely).
Because all the parts are chosen well, my ancient PCs kill new ones, and nothing newer offers anything worthwhile, or noticable as an upgrade (and PCs are my life).
Photos on my 6MP 12 year old Canon; perfect!
My hifi untouchable (for sane money)
My phone isn't missing anything that the Note 7 brings. Other than an OS upgrade that no doubt Cyanogen or some such can sort out; given Samsung left my device handicapped upon release of Lollipop (no love for 'the Edge')..
Point is,.. well selected parts have long legs and are reliable.
The downtime whilst being warranty repaired just isn't worth it.
Tools and toys are to be used and enjoyed.
I know a lot of people who are proud of 'how much they saved'; and tell me so, on their 'knock offs and fakes'... and they get to show me new toys generally every six months.
The learning curve they spend learning how to use (and that knowledge becoming redundant quickly, as the part fails and is replaced with something even better *based on spec sheet numbers*); Priceless.
This is not fair.. why they are not giving update to nexus5?.. nexus5 is capable of running androidN.
i think i am on the safe side with my galaxy s6 egde plus because of its 4GB ram i might get 2 more android OS in future after android 7.0 currently i am on android 6.0
AnonD-552441, 31 Jul 2016I still haven't received 6.0 on my Note 4 hoping to get 7.0 on time :D Note4 and s5 won't be getting android 7 most likely. Software support is over with marshmallow. How come you don't have 6.0.1? Pretty sure the note 4 got it ages ago now.
AnonD-367917, 30 Jul 2016Note 7 very likely. Other Samsungs in 2016; highly unlikely ( why would we buy a new phone if... moreIf you have Note5 you don't need to buy Note7. Note7 actually targets Note 4 and Note 3 users. Note5 is fairly new so the features are not that far apart from the new ones. Who the hell buy a phone every 12months anyway? You are rich? Good, go buy an iphone.
