Nokia N8 gets lots of stick in early reviews, we wonder why Comments

ENGADGET site always bad mouthing nokia and praising apple iphone. that much is known to that site's regular reader. they view only US market and Nokia is not much of a leader in that continent.. but they ignore worldwide market... and being a gadget site, they always go for the bang and whistle gadget instead of nokia's 'phone first' approach

They're not nokia's flagship device. You forget that Apple only has 1 device, the Iphone, and its their flag ship. So why would you even compare Nokia low feature phones to a flag ship? That's like saying "hey Iphone is too expensive, I can get a "pay as you go" phone for $40!"

What was your argument again? Practically everyone does it. Nokia just does it a wee bit differently: lessen the camera, lower the price. Use different casing, lessen the price. Add hardware keyboard and a bigger screen, add some price. Versatility.
I'd think using one hardware spec would be merely a good thing, since it'd ease the burden on FW updates. Don't you think?
And the GPU is a debatable point. CPU is a given.

This is funny. This is the first time I witness a mobile review site comment on the critcism of other review site.
I find it awkward(and biased) for Gsmarena to raise this unfair review issue because it have been existing a long long time. ago! And now when their bet is in big trouble, they would inform the public of the biases happening around the web.

GSMArena is by far the least biased source for cellphone reviews I've come across. Every review I've ever read by them has been completely objective, praising what deserves to be praised, and criticizing what deserves to be criticized. So, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing GSMArena's review of the N8. It's really the only one I can trust to be truly objective, and tell it like it is.

Iphone 3GS can be had for $400 USD or less. Iphone has a much more established platform than Symbian^3, more developers, more stable from the reviews I've read on Symbian^3. HTC can had for even cheaper.

So if GSM Arena sees a number of articles that exhibited some obvious bias about a particular phone, why should they not report on it? It's not just GSM Arena's writers that think those particular articles exhibited bias against the N8. Forum members on this and those other sites observe the same thing. This isn't just one site, it's a number of sites.
Now that GSM Arena has called out a number of other sites for exhibiting this bias, all eyes will be on GSM Arena for their expected review of the N8. I'm sure their review of this phone (and probably others) will be scrutinised to ensure they uphold to standards that they claim other sites failed to meet.

we were all disappointed in n97 but i think n8 will make it up for us and the Finnish brand will recover nicely with the upcoming c6 and also c7 ........love from Syria

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2010So!! Iphone 4 is most expensive in uk together with ipadUK is not an indicator. Countries might have local price differences. IE in Finland you can get an unlocked iPhone 4 for 589 euros, as in £513.
