You are so totally right and thank you for writing this. You are by far the best site there is when it comes to mobilephones and will always be.

"Well, we're comparing 2 DIFFERENT OS' here. iOS and Android may need 1Ghz or higher, but not Symbian. On S^3, the GPU offloads a lot of tasks for the interface while the CPU processes the other things. This increases the performance of the battery, as I've heard some users get usage of up to 2 days.

As per using it in competence with Android and iOS, it's personal preference mate. Try the Nokia N8 at the store in London (or wherever a store might be where you live). I think it's a fair handset when going up against the other mid-range phones."

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2010n8 use arm11 which is 2 yr old tech processor. Do some research!!Perhaps, but is does use a class leading Broadcomm GPU which takes a lot of work out of the hands of the processor. Lower clocked Processor also means longer battery life.
The only reason Android's run on high 1Ghz proc's is because of the OS nature. JAVA stuff and virtual machine stuff, not a core OS like S3 is.

I think N8 would be a perfect hit in multimedia.

But before N8 released all the ratings were like 8.5,8.4,.. but now those are straightly down to 7 figures. I wonder why this happened..

However, I do not think that N8 Ovi maps can perform well like android maps(google)...

You people have no experience. I've held the Desire Z in my hand at the HTC convention, 800mhz means NOTHING since the core of the processor is newer than the previous snapdragons. It's a pretty fast performing phone.

                            Get over the number hype.

And to add on the processor supposedly being 'bad' RAM would aslo be bad. But they forget to mention that the N8 uses the same virtual type RAM as the N900 does effectively boosting RAM by more than 100% (don't now for sure though if that is exact)
