aphid, 05 Oct 2010Hope the Moto Defy becomes available on 850/1900 3g bands. The specs on the Defy might be a lit... moreMaybe you take Defy as a high end phone? This is a middle end phone and as a middle end phone 800Mhz CPU, 512 Ram, 512 Room it's not outdated. In additions it comes with lifeproof and first middle end phone android able to be submerge 1m deep in water pour up to 30 min come on, this what you call outdated? Maybe the OS 2.1 it outdated but it build with adobe flash player and can any time receive 2.2?

Hope the Moto Defy becomes available on 850/1900 3g bands. The specs on the Defy might be a little out of date but it is still light years ahead of other "tough phones" on the market.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2010T-Mobile US runs only on the AWS band, so you won't be able to use these on any other network ... moreVery good explaination but Moto did not make Defy as a faster device but as the strongest one. With lifeproof Moto Defy is a perfect device.

T-Mobile US runs only on the AWS band, so you won't be able to use these on any other network at 3G speed other than two small carriers in Canada (Wind and Mobilicity)

As for the spec, HTC did it right and chose 1GHz MSM8255 for myTouch HD, which is a second gen Snapdragon processor. This is currently one of the best performing 1GHz processor on the market right now. You can read more about it here:

              http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/100-msm7x30-msm7230-msm7630-msm8x55-msm8255-msm8655-and-qsd8x50a-qsd8250a-qsd8650a-are-qualcomms-2nd-gen-snapdragon-processors-how-fast-are-they/

As for Defy, it was rumored to use OMAP 3610 at 800MHz. This is a slightly underwhelming spec. OMAP 3610 won't be competitive if you compare them against Qualcomm's 800MHz MSM7x30 processors (again, their 2nd gen processors).
