Maemo's not dead, changing it's name and joining forces with intel does not equal death.
And pr 1.3 availiable right now.
I share your love for n900, my iJunk (a gift) was relegated and is nothing more than a backup phone since n900 came along, mind you I thought (knew) apple were tacky when they only sold computers, let alone ipods iphones etc.
MeeGo will be only meant for Developers not exactly for owners.. :(
What a saaaaaaaaaaaaaad.....,
But ofcourse, if some one wants to install it , he can but on his own risk....huuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
The waiting is over......
better to wait for 2011 MeeGo Devices.
( crying )
3 days left..
the only problem i have with my n900 is it does not have good gps spot softwear.
as no google softwear....
My Q is:
When do we expect to have full version/release of MeeGo??
is it by the coming days or by 2011?
regards
Hi
Yes you can use meego on n900 .. but its not supported by nokia , its only supported by the comunity
Meego isnt the only thing you can do on n900 , a port of Android 2.2 is already runing on n900 ( without sms recive and phone support but they are working on that too) The Android port is called NitDroid ( search google or youtube )
N900 are the most powerfull phone (tablet) out there for geeks like me.
I have tried HTC with android and HTC with windows and symbian phones but they cant be compared with n900 .
And do forget about iPhone i wont even mention my opinion on that phone.
god, guys!!!! dont ya kno how ta use google???????
www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=opera&rls=en&as_q=app+store+for+meego?&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=100&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=&as_qdr=y&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images
very true wat sum1 hir said, androids and the iphone clone army didnt see d nid for full flash support on mobile devices, but now its alrdy d holy grail of advc]anced handhelds. goes a long way to show how n900 has paved d way so othrs will also get flash support, and its abt time. N900 was too good for its time, dats why it hasnt reached d popularity it deserved. And dats ok, at least those of us who understood dat N900 was and is superior can safely say we wer right and had what others now crave almost a year ago.
in retrospect its hard to see why most ppl didnt see what we have known all d time. And by the time they get iit on other units we have already moved further ahead with meego. we rule ehehe
Mohamed, 16 Oct 2010Nokia did a blunder with Maemo and shattered all the hopes of N900 Everyone regrets why they ... moreI knew Maemo was dead when I bought my N900 and I'm still in love with the phone/OS and specially the UI. It replaced my iPhone (iHate iTunes, No Adobe flash, crappy camera, iHate iTunes - I really can't say that enough) and my HTC Hero (Crappy camera, dislike of SenseUI, no full Adobe flash). I love the UI of Maemo and the fact that I can do whatever I want on it. As for the apps, as long as I have all of the internet at hand, I don't care about apps.

I don't seem to remember any computers with tin... moreuhh, actually, you can code programs on the n900. most people tinker with apps using the xterminal, etc. ive messed around with the kernel a few times to overclock the device.
so yeah, i'd say its good enough as an internet tablet.
Mohamed, 16 Oct 2010Nokia did a blunder with Maemo and shattered all the hopes of N900 Everyone regrets why they ... moreI am happy with the nokia n900. Use it yourself to know the difference
what about the apps?..will we have an app store for meego?
It appears to me that we have alot of people stuck on this os crap which is way overrated! I've had the Iphones and the Android phones as well along with symbian and now Maemo. From what I can tell it's all preference far as the os but Symbian just gives you more option to do things for various files on the phone while the rest besides maemo gives you no other options. Far as multitasking and camera and media features along with browsers, Nokia just destroy them period. Editors were dissing flash which maemo had full flash built into the browser and now everyone with Androd devices crave flash but earlier they were acting like flash sucks and the same with the camera stuff as well and now all want higherga pixel count cameras. I love my N900 and no complaints period. I can watch a video and shrink it and chat rather im or sms while the video is still playing. Do that with a Android or Iphone or even Symbian and I bet that you can't. For those who have a N900 download media box and try it.
whoopps, remove the 'do not' from "if you do not understand linux basics".. :( :(
"we want to know if we can use the MeeGo on our N900"
if you do not understand linux basics, you will understand how dual boot works when you install linux(with dual boot) on a windows PC... If you then install a new windows over this, you will lose your dual boot, unless you know enough to windows dual booting, IF that is compatible...
I think that is what Nokia means, any new OS for N900 will overwite what is there... And I think the only way Nokia can support Meego, is to give them ALL the source code, for them to understand fully how it works, and licenses for them to modify the code in case of problems... do you really want to make Meego into Nokia source, like symbian is???
DO NOTE I may be very wrong about this, corrections all welcomed... :)
KiwiTNT, 14 Oct 2010Shame on Nokia. Why arent they supporting it if they port it? By abandoning Maemo and going ... moreyour such an idio=t .. do u think they care.. soo dumb .. if im the owner of nokia ill do the same to .. i dont care about people who own a N900 its all about making money and ripping people off.. ill make the n900 look soo good before it comes out and after people buy it i let them dry .. dont think nokia is mean this is REAL life to you boy .. and this is FACTS ... MONEY talks you know ... and dont u seen those video they call ADS on your t.v. u idiot

Hope to get a straight answer from an expert.

Nokia can't write good software, wether it's symbian or meego or their crappy ovi services. None of them work or feel right.
