So, the story is that microsoft bought nokia devices from nokia(bad times story) and then sold the feature phone division to HMD global which consists of nokia veterans. The remaining feature phone business and Nokia factories were sold to FIH mobile(foxconn subsidiary) by microsoft. So, HMD will use Nokia name and FIH will manufacture phones. So, actually it is nokia reborn as a result of $ex between HMD and FIH. Good times !!!!
Anonymous, 18 Aug 2016This is a chinese factory using name of nokia, be aware guys, dont be early adopter.A Part of FIH company (owned by Foxconn) has been sold to a new Finland-based company founded by former Nokia staff, HMD global, who will start to develop new Nokia-branded device. basically they bought some of the foxconn factories
Zmalach, 18 Aug 2016Nokia China!!! The Nokia quality is gone for good :(Are you serious??!!
who else manufactures smart phones in the whole world???
China, China, China, then other Asian countries (Korea, vietnam, India, ...etc)
they need camera aperture bigger den f/1.7, pixels bigger den 1.5µm and screen to body ratio above 75% atleast
bring back clearblack amoled, carl zeiss optics and pureview.
and i hope dey go "all metal" route.....
and sd820 wont be enough as we already have sd821 phone in market (asus zenfone 3 deluxe).
last but not the least, i hope nokia gives us a new standard in battery life for smatphones.....
Good news but I will stick with my lovely Sony. Xperia phones forever.
1080p is good enough for a 5.2" display, also good for battery life. increasing ppi only for the sake of increasing is good for what?
SDKforLumia, 18 Aug 2016Please don't Suck please don't Suck please don't Suck... I'm pretty certain they will suck, but at least they have a slight chance because of the OS.
vrvly, 18 Aug 2016QHD by next year may be not the top in screen specs. The same goes for average camera, g5, p9,... moreUnless looking at your phone with a magnifying glass becomes a trend there will never be a need for anything higher than QHD on a screen that is smaller than 10"
AnonD-569738, 18 Aug 2016Sorry to disappoint you . If you didn't read clear enough it's actually a China company using ... moreSorry to disappoint you too but HMD is a company from Finland and inside this company are a lot of Nokia veterans.
So it's a union of HMD -Nokia technologies and Foxconn but the standards of quality will be judged by Nokia. This means that the devices will not only have the Nokia branding but also the quality of Nokia and that is the most important.
Welcome back Nokia!
Cmon Nokia get your place back as king and knock off Craapple and Samesung
QHD by next year may be not the top in screen specs. The same goes for average camera, g5, p9, z5, s7 are all different, therefore phone got more value. Sticking to standard wont go well. I hope we can expect something.
mir, 18 Aug 2016Sweet. Hopefully they have some nicely priced midrangers coming.Sorry to disappoint you . If you didn't read clear enough it's actually a China company using Nokia name . Nokia simply don't have the finance to build million phone right now .
AnonD-125829, 18 Aug 2016Nokia.. the name is Enough..! :')Nokia Products Manufactured In China that says all
Well... It's Nokia devices which designed by HMD and manufactured by Foxconn (TLDR not a pure Nokia devices).
But Foxconn is well known OEM who manufacture the famous iPhone. So with a tight QC, we still can hope that these devices will not falter in term of build quality.
Software side, it still need further test by the masses in term of responsiveness, stability, ease of use, etc. But seeing N1 has next to none major complaints, I think it should be good enough.
Design wise, I don't know about others. But N1's design is tightly resembled with iPad. If this time Nokia can't shake off that image, Nokia will fall into iDevice-wannabe category. I hope they do have strong traits to their own design this time.
We'll see when they release them. :3
