[deleted post]Its the same as any App Store. You can only have a certain amount of gimmicks on a touchscreen device. Rehashes or copies are going to appear.
The Zx Spectrum had a lot of garbage games released for it. Like any game console/device you get diamonds in the rough.
Facts facts facts
The Apple App Store is the most successful.
Top 10 apps.
1. Cut the Rope (addictive game, Exclusive to iphone/ipad)
3. Angry Birds
4. Where's Wally
6. Mirrors Edge
7. WhatsApp Messenger (also on Blackberry now)
8. Lottery results app
9. Fruit Ninja
10. Doodle Jump
All QUALITY Apps.
Get over it Nokia Fanboys.
who cares when more than 90% are paid apps and this is the only way to distract people from real issues of ip4
Why all the bitchiness from people. We have our own things we like & dislike. If we all liked the same the world would be boring. I have the iphone 4 & im very happy with it. Not tried the other phones so can't coment.
I do not have any IPhone, can anyone tell us what are the 5 top ranked games and the 5 top ranked apps? It is easier to decide if IPhone is any good or not if we know if the apps and games are good or not, while the actual number of games and apps is irrelevant because nobody will install thousands of apps on their phone anyway?
To all those people trashing the App Store
RIM, Android and Ovi would LOVE to be as popular as Apple's App Store. Get over it, It's the best out there.
And there isn't one fart app in the top 100, so you're talking BS there.
OOoh Angry Birds on Android. Yawn, I've been playing it for a year. It's nice that the underpriviliged get something for free.
wow, 300,000 USELESS , repeated , farted apps!!
No Thanks, N8 and it's ovi store goodness IS my lover :)
Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010plenty of useless games & apps
quality over quantityMy favourite apps so far:
1Password: Password protection app
Pulse: Newsfeed reader
Epic Win: To do list app, with RPG layer on top (lol hilarious app)
Business Card Reader: Takes photo of biz card, and scans info into Address Book
F1 Official Timing app: Live updates with car positions during races
Amplitube (with iRig): Plug in electric guitar and jam on your iPhone or iPad (amazing!)
Autostitch: Creates panoramas from multiple photos
Street Fighter 4
Need For Speed Shift
Rogue Planet (Like Advanced Wars for Nintendo DS)
Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus
Tilt to Live (Damn addictive)
Dodonpachi (bullet hell style game)
I believe that currently it is very difficult for any other mobile phone platform to match iOS in terms of gaming. The only platform which I think may be able to do this is Windows Phone 7, as they will leverage their XBox Live assets. Android has some quality titles, but is not very attractive to developers due to model fragmentation.
Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010300,000.. hmmm.. of which 44% are totally non- working garbage wannabe apps with fancy descrip... moreYah u r r8, it is better havin 10 useful apps instead of 1000 nonsense apps... Most of them same apps wit diff name, appearences. Its nothing but markettin gymmik
How many of them r helpful? I think they r redundent apps with diff names & looks. And Ipuny does nt support multitusking so u hav to run each app 1by1 at a time, if ipuny is real multitusker lyk symbian phones i realy buy it
300,000.. hmmm.. of which 44% are totally non- working garbage wannabe apps with fancy description made by 9 year olds for 9 year olds.
Then there are about 60,000 books, that is 20%. I have no idea since when books became apps??!
Then there are about 48,000 games, thats is 16%, some are rally good, most are total trash and same games over and over again with different names.
Then there is about 15%, that is 45000 of the exactly same fart, e-mail and wi-fi apps over and over and over and over again with different names.
The there is 4%, that is 12 000 of the same dating apps for gays and 14 year old girls.
Last there is the 1%, that is about 3000 diffrent type of "same" medical and facebook apps.
There are 3 people in my house that uses appstore, belive me i know, Thank god i don't..
i would like to know 2 things:
how many of these apps are useful and whether in the free section, they are including the trial version of the game and thus count them as a different app???
just laughing, 17 Oct 2010you actually say ovi store, that works for crappy 10 year old symbian os updated with widgets... moreso glad i got at least one person to bite i am a symbian fan more to do with thats to os i am used to but i was only joking that ovi is a better app store
Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010serisouly.. eww.
who cares,"serisouly.. eww.
Actually, people do care. Gamers for example, would look to the App Store that gives them what they want, quality and fun games, and currently Apple App Store provides this. True, there are many crappy games available, but the sheer number of buyers has attracted major publishers like Sega, Capcom, EA and Square Enix. My personal faves: Need For Speed Shift, Street Fighter 4 and Chaos Rings.
Developers also care, as they would want to see which platform would give them the best investment return. ngmoco, which was started up only 2 years ago with 10 million, was sold last week to a Japanese group for 400 million.
