Corning is obviously lying about the metallic transfer. Jerry has ensured that he cleans the screen with a tissue (or cloth) after the test. The scratches had no left over material from the picks and it was actually the glass that was scraped.
I see some people are saying something like: "ok, Note 7 has a scratch prone glass, but it's still the best phone" I can easily prove it is not...
1. Fingerprint sensor is painted and not covered with glass. Paint eventually will start to come off.
2. S Pen is smaller and thinner. Why??? S Pen on Note 5 was not so convenient for handwriting. I was hoping Samsung will make it a little thicker to allow users to keep it in hand like a regular pen. Instead Samsung made it even thinner and user experience even worse...
3. Curved edges are not convenient for holding phone in hand. Plus - much more expensive to repair if broken or damaged.
4. Painted frame is such an idiotic decision. It's obvious that paint will start to come off sooner or later. As a result - very expensive device will lose it's value and visual appearance.
5. Battery is not any better than one on S7 Edge which is inferior model to Note 7.
6. The same procession with S7 Edge means that just after 6 months your Note 7 will be working on outdated software, because Galaxy S8 will have a faster processor and supposedly more RAM. Let alone the fact that more than 2 times cheaper OnePlus 3 already has 6 gig of RAM.
7. To my taste Note 7 looks too flashy. Also I would prefer metal back rather than glass. Especially one prone to scratches or shatter.
Total: Note 7 is very nice device to look at in museum or store shelves but not in real life...
But generally compare facts and make your own conclusions instead of reading and listening to reviews which repeats the same things but never speak about problems...
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016How many times you drop your phone?
But by just putting the phone with CG5 in the pocket will... moreI don't put my phone in my jeans pocket. It sits snug in my chest pocket. And you can use a case and protective screen like a normal person. I'd rather have the assurance that on the off chance I drop it its fine, than knowing if I put it in a bag filled with knives it would be fine. Because I don't do the latter and I have the sense to at least take the minimum precautions and put a protective screen and a basic case on it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed its more scratch prone, and I expect to see improvements as soon as the end of this year. But I also understand that shatterproof is more important than scratch proof. Even with gg4, if you cared so much about having a perfect device without a single scratch you would have had a case on it. That doesn't change.
AnonD-130610, 20 Aug 2016You are mistaken. Actually Samsung smartphones are the best.Oh really? In my personal opinion Huawei phones are the best ( models like Mate 8, Mate S and probably P9).
Two test :
1.Jerry rig everything.
2. Phonebuff drop test.
In 1 st test it scratch at a level of 3 in mohr hardness.
In 2 nd it shattered on the first drop from one meter.
Conclusion : gg5 is cheap useless advertising product .
NOTE: DISREGARD THIS COMMENT IF MY POINTS AND VIEWS ARE NOT VALID. (REFER TO ACTUAL FACTS)
I am posting this comment by not merely researching anything at all. (My country's DSL provider is giving me a pain in the ass). Okay, When I saw the ads about the GG5 my first thought was the Moto DROID Turbo 2. That phone was built like a tank. Screen is almost shatter resistant. I've seen videos that it was dropped at insane heights, traditionally not a kind of heights phones are usually dropped but needless to say showing off and we marvel the technology behind its screen. My first impression was; "maybe it was made on materials used in fiber glass". Okay maybe it IS somewhat fiber glass. So these GG5 maybe made the same components like the screen of the Moto Droid. I am spitting blind here, really. Since fiber glass is a mixture of silicon and some plastic to reduce shatter when drop or hit by any object. And thus by adding some plastic, of course, the glass strength would reduce. Its a trade off on both sides actually.
I'll update my post once I have research more.
Please do share your insights on these comment. Peace y'all!

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016No more samsung again. note 4 is last real NoteAnd this Note is also good. If you don't like it, worse for you.
Jerryrigeverything does all the test sincerely. So he will not do anything extra then previous tests for Note 7. Its clear that Gorilla Glass 5 is prone to scratches easily. Corning completely intended to make a shatter proof glass, but did not plan well for scratches. Still people like me always use screen protector even if the glass is easily prone to scratches.
AnonD-89438, 20 Aug 2016Yes, just like all million dollars car which can not be scratched by keys or knief, right? So you would happily buy a car that is more likely to scratch than one that is less likely to over time? Using that logic would you buy less secure cars too?
Savor , 20 Aug 2016I would love if the Note7 was indestructible or was harder scratch but should being susceptibl... moreWow dude the S7 edge got demoted to #2 world best mobile phone. but but but I bought an S7 edge. Can I cry now? 8)
back to note 7 I don't care if some guy chooses to Scracth his phone or not. been a Samsung user since wave 3 and now to the S7 edge I will not Care What any one says. Once U go Sammy U can't turn back galaxy s and Notes have balance and Usabillitg far more Superior to most if not all phones Combined. TO back that up why is the galaxy always pitted against every Contender that is Claimed to be a flagship from Many brands Stapples and still wins on direct feature for feature count off and execution on hardware and software ergonomics and functionality. because they offer the Widest Use and functionality without even needing detachable Mods and all the gimicks we see Show UP every month or So.
Just do a "bonifide industry test" on both s7 and note7, then compare the result. 🤔✌️️
If only it were true that VR could replicate IMAX.
Watching video in VR is like watching on a huge SDTV, the resolution is so very low.
Its one reason why I got rid of the GearVR on my Note 4 and as the screen resolution hasn't changed, its not going to be any better on newer devices either.
