Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016We all scratch our cellphones in an uncontrolled manner, right?Exactly! Hahaha!
Corning is supplier... Samsung is the one who is deciding for putting quality in their product! If Samsung will not demand quality improvement on screens they will be facing of drop of sales for this reason. If the truth shows between S7 edge and Note 7 ... let think where the fact is.
Note7, 20 Aug 2016Really?Yup, in my country they sell about 18$
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016so want do people actually want? a shatter-resistant or a scratch-resistant screen?Of course scratch resistance.
I buy the bumper case from day one that protects from drops, but not from scratches.
Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016I don't see him attacking the phone in a irregular manner as corning claims.Wow. When you get your first scratches on your new 850 EUR Note 7, how are you going to use the screen without looking at it???
No only you will see the scratches every time you use the screen, but you will also feel them with your fingers.
Pay the inflated price of 850 EUR and have the curved screen that also scratches easily????
I'm wondering if people stared to earn too much money if they don't see that the price of 850 eur is insane.
This would have been more concerning IF the Note7 front glass was as weak as the Nexus 4 glass rear. The Nexus 4 glass rear would break just by looking at it funny. It cracked like an egg if the room temperature drastically changes. But no, the Note7 is more shatterproof similar to Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro's ceramic rear. Easier to scratch but harder to break.
Yes, I am aware we are more likely to scratch our phones than drop and shatter them. But a shattered glass would bother me more in the long run. Samsung is also offering a free 256gb micro-sd slot or Gear Fit 2. Am I supposed to overlook them offering me a free $250 memory card? That's 64gb internal + 256gb external for a total of 320gb or 280+gb avail.
Go ahead and complain. Don't order it or cancel it. *shrugs* But don't let a few OCD, prissy folks poop your party. Whining about scratches when Note7 is still that feature-rich? Phone is still sexy as hell and packed with features to not even care about its minor issues since there is no such thing as the perfect smartphone. Learn to weigh the pluses and minuses.
This isn't perfect but still rated the BEST of 2016 has to offer.
Waa waa waa, mommy! It scratches so easily like my nail! But I have a free 256gb micro-sd card and a $100 Gear VR to enjoy VR adult entertainment to make me forget about them!
JerryRigEverything suggested to use tempered glass so you can get shatter and scratch resistant. Anyway Samsung provides their official screen protector for the Note7.
Since this had come to light, hopefully Corning would do some test n confirmation so to dispel any misconception about the new glass.
I don't see him attacking the phone in a irregular manner as corning claims.
Anonym, 20 Aug 2016Half true. Samsung chose this glass and, at the end of the day, it's your Samsung phone that w... moreWhich is still only half an excuse NOT to buy it.
I see alot of little boys whining about superficial issues. The glass rear on most phones are of weaker glass too. Do most people really check scratches on their phones? I don't. I own five phones and don't care for minor cosmetic issues. I plan to USE the phone. Not stare at it all day and make it look pristine. Too busy on Gear VR to care.
If it is such an issue to some of you. Don't buy it. Deprive yourself from the best smartphone of 2016. It will still sell millions. So it scratches easily? Okay. Some of us are now supposed to forget about its features like the S Pen, great camera, excellent battery life, and best display according to DisplayMate? I am not trying to make excuses for it but it still has many other great reasons over its drawbacks to get it...
Two test :
1.Jerry rig everything.
2. Phonebuff drop test.
In 1 st test it scratch at a level of 3 in mohr hardness.
In 2 nd it shattered on the first drop from one meter.
Conclusion : gg5 is cheap useless advertising product .

It was dropped 50 times on to hard concrete and survived, so phonebuff just gave up after that. How the hell can you have the nerve to say it shattered on the first drop?
Shatter resistance is more important than scratch but scratches at level 3 is bad performance. It looks like gg4 is better than gg5.

This is Corning's fault. Not Samsung's. But go ahead and cancel your orders for the Note7. Still device is still tne best smartphone available out right now and will sell millions. Go crying all night about possible scratches on your phone. I will be crying tears of joy once I test the Gear VR for VR adult stuff. Cosmetic excuses is for born losers.
A drawback to an otherwise awesome phone. I guess it'll be the first time in 4 years that i'll be using a screen protector once again.
