That's Foogle folks! They see a project that actually have potential and they need to buy it so they can later on cancel it.
Also, there was a guy saying that they did this for budget reasons. Are you effing kidding me? They have trillions and they actually could buy countries if they want. So go find a better excuse.
They did this cos they want you to buy their shtline nexus phones without expandable memory. They want you to put your data on their cloud crap so they know everything.
Other than having the best updates, the nexus phones are simply mediocre and not worth checking out..
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016Poor eSke rAhn. Hope he is not taking this news too badly. He he :-)
Yeah, I was not too happy about it - as you could see from my previous post, had you read before posting. ;-p
This will help poor people like me.. so they have to cancel it...
As much as I am mad, I'm not surprised. Google aren't being smart this year, what with all the YouTube controversy costing them money hand over fist, among other things. Doing this to a project that's been alive for 3 years and possibly heavily funded means they gotta save costs somewhere. It annoys me, but doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Google good at software only, innovation in hardware even intel can beat Motorola. Bring back ARA to motorola!!!

Btw. PWEASE make a phone with hot swappable battery :( come on!!! Hiw hard can it be? I do DIY electronics and it really shouldn't be that hard!
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016actually we only need the battery separately from the phone, how hard can it be to made??? Agreed.
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016actually we only need the battery separately from the phone, how hard can it be to made??? That's the most important, combined with decent third-party extended batteries. Or better yet, bigger batteries by default.

If they made a true modular phone, that would be same perfection as with PCs, where people don't feel the need to buy one for 5-10 years, they just replace some parts once in a while when needed, which is why the PC market is said to not be doing so great. That and Intel's unfortunate monopoly and lack of reasonable progress in CPUs. All hopes in AMDs Zen now.

It's such a shame. That's why it was so needed. People and manufacturers have lost any common sense. It's 2016, smartphones are not a big deal, they are just an everyday tool so it doesn't matter how they look like - everyone has one and no one will notice. Grow up already!
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016So were you going to buy it if it was released having mind that one will not be able to change... moreWell that's not what was promised at first.
But still, even if you can't replace them, it's more important to have a choice and assemble exactly what you want. So it could have been made reasonable enough.
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016moto z play already using it and may be iPhone 7 as well. moto z play modularity is different one so i think he is saying about body parts that can be switched like that of lg g5 not back cover of that of moto Z play
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016Modular design will save the planet, benefit the consumers but companies will lose money....so... moreWell you just named the reason why it failed and why it will never (be allowed to) exist.
Anything beneficial for consumers is unbeneficial for manufacturers.
OEM's want us to change our cars, phones, TV's every 2-3 years. If you insist on using them, you see silly problems. We don't see durable products any more. Everything (virtually everything) is unreliable to force end user to throw money periodically.
I am so shocked that this project got canned. /s Phones are no longer the technological forefront. The companies at this point are just greedy for profit so experiments like the era have no room.
