Improvements could mean smaller, more compact camera body. It doesn't always mean image quality will improve, or won't degrade. But I surely hope it'll be at least as good as 5X. Can't wait for these new pixels.

Casual good DSLR shots without unnecessary amounts of bokeh in 26mm focal length can be taken down to F4 without a problem. That means, the galaxy s7 camera could have an F0.64 aperture without scewing up the pictures.
And this would be 7 times the light.
The only problem is, that it's almost impossible or impossible to manufacture such a lens in a smartphone compatible size without a huge camera humb to a reasonable price.
Is actually we're talking about things that won't be real anyways, but just to tell you, that the 1.7 aperture is really not a problem at all
I hate the name Pixel. I just can't get over it. They're trading Nexus, which is cool and has a following, for Pixel that sounds like a childs toy? If they wanted to use Google, because that name is obviously very well known, it would at least make sense, even if it would seem like a step down. But Pixel is not well known and sounds dumb. What a wasted. R.I.P. Nexus.

The Nexus 5x and 6p use the imx377 and have a pixel size of 1.55 micron. It was confirmed everywhere. This is the first time that a different sensor than the imx377 is mentioned and that's nonsense. The Nexus 5x has a focal length of 4.67mm. The crop factor of a 1/3" sensor could not achieve the equivalent focal length of about 26mm.

wikipedia says otherwise, imx377
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exmor
the 278 is a whole different sensor. different size, different tech (Exmor RS, not R), different pixel size and different megapixel count

6p had an amazing camera and one of the best post processing.
i hope they use a bigger aperture in this one. f/1.7 or f/1.6
The front facing camera is the same camera as the rear from the Nexus 5
actually, the 5x and the 6p feature the imx377. if this is th3 378, its likely thats it's basically the same chip. i hope, that it won't be a smaller version of it. the slim design that we saw is not a good sign for a good camera
I like the subtle use of 'ego-stroking' in this article
