i mostly use opera mini bcoz it saves data, loads webpages fast and moreover it's way better than my phone's native browser.

So with this i guess the worst problem of N8 is solved. Now we can expect a very descent web browsing. Hopefully.

This is great news!
A native Symbian app is better because it is faster and smoother.
The Java version was slower and less responsive.
Other platforms had their own native versions, it is about time Symbian got its own!!!

How come???
I've been using Opera 5.1 for weeks now on my n97mini!!!
And Opera Mobile is too slow on this phone, that's why people use it!
My girlfriend use Opera Mobile on her SE Vivaz and works fine because it has got more RAM I suppose...

+1 to most others: as much as I love Opera Mobile it absolutely slaughters my poor N97 Mini. Will definitely give the new Mini a go as it's always had a decent compromise between performance and resources.

"Why would you prefer the trimmed down Opera Mini"
Because Nokia sells more handsets in eastern europe and asia, where you can't get a contract with unlimited data and a free N8.
Fore example, here in the UK, you can get an N8 for FREE on a T-Mobile 24 month contract that has 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. All for £20 a month. £20 x 24 months = £480. The phone Sim free costs £430. So here in the UK it makes no sense whatsoever to buy phones sim free, when you can get a contract and have it for free. Unfortunatelly, people in the UK don't buy Nokias, its all iPhone and Blackberry here.
If Nokia sold more in the UK, then it would probably have Opera Mobile.

yes, opera mini rocks, in my place i only have to pay about 20 cent a day for unlimited data on a full 3G speed for opera mini, its awsome

Because Opera Mobile and Opera Mini isn't the same. For example even with Opera Turbo, Opera Mini still compresseses more data than Opera Turbo.
Also Opera Mini is easier on the RAM. Not everone has a N8.

why we use opera mini is simple.
lower data usage = lower phone bill.
'nuff said.

it's a proud and noble thing! To answer one of the questions of the post, i would much rather use the mini version of the browser because i also use the spb mobile shell on my 5230 and that alone eats up a lot of ram... Using the mini, i never get an 'out of memory' error. And now it's faster than ever. Even the native notes application is slower to start...
