Li Chang, 18 Sep 2016It is actually a "crystal lens cover" Sapphire is a trademarked brand name that Apple owns and... moreI believe you are mistaken.
Sapphire is a mineral (Al2O3). It cannot be "trademarked". Also there is a Videocard manufacturer called Sapphire Technology (www.sapphiretech.com). So if someone is able to sue anyone it are these guys.
Anyway. The screenshot does say sapphire crystal which DOES indicate that sapphire gemstone (AKA crystal) materials should have been used in the lens cover. As someone wrote before. Either Apple is lying or their Chinese contractor is pulling a fast one here :-(
Either way I am NOT going to buy stuff from the 2 biggest smartphone corps this year. Since they BOTH fucked up big time! So long Apple and Samsung... see you folks at the unemployment line!
Gigel, 19 Sep 2016Sapphire is the second most durable transparent material on Earth after diamond...It doesn't m... moreREAD THE ARTICLE!!!. The lens cover and home button were tested using picks made specifically for doing a Mohs hardness test for sapphire to see if they were, in fact, real sapphire. In such a test, REAL sapphire will not scratch since the pick is softer than REAL sapphire. The pick is, however, hard enough to scratch softer materials such as hardened glass which, apparently, the home button and camera lens cover are since they are not sapphire. Either Apple lied or their supplier/fabricator in China pulled a fast one.
Sapphire is the second most durable transparent material on Earth after diamond...It doesn't mean it's indestructible... It's not "vibranium", jeez! You hit or scratch it hard enough, it WILL show. But, haters gonna hate! Does it state anywhere that you have to walk around with a fire extinguisher in your hand when you use a note 7? Nope! Should it? YES! :))
here, I have 5 pounds gold bar*. I'll sell it to you for half price and free shipping
*it's actually lead with gold paint, but I NAMED it gold bar so it IS a gold bar
Still better than Sony's crap camera lens, which scratches if it touches anything harder than a baby's bottom.
Crapple, 18 Sep 2016Apparently Iphone 7 plus makes a hissing sound. This is by design; the hissing sound would scare away rodents.
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2016Nope 1. iPhone 7 Home Button isn't part of the front glass. It's even dedicated by the meta... moreYou're right about the button not being embedded on the glass, just saw the iFixit Teardown, well, I used iPhone 2G, iPod touch 3G, iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4S, I still own an iPad 3 and for me the button is pure plastic, it isn't glass, doesn't even feel like it!
we iphone fans love to be lied. we don't care
Even if they is no water resistance we will keep buying
Li Chang, 18 Sep 2016It is actually a "crystal lens cover" Sapphire is a trademarked brand name that Apple owns and... moreFinally! Someone who is really smart has a logic here. You're totally correct mate!
"Perhaps Apple plans to use real sapphire on the lens once the demand for iPhones slows down. The process probably takes longer than crafting the component from display glass."
Dude what does that even mean?!? If their production line and resource inputs can't keep up with demand, halt the sales till they have stock to sell. Next they'll say not all iPhone 7 have the OIS sensors because apple ran out of supply due to increased demand.
It is actually a "crystal lens cover" Sapphire is a trademarked brand name that Apple owns and has nothing at all to do with the material sapphire.
