In Canada, if you exceed your data plan by 36 GB, you will have to pay 1700$! 1700! That makes 48$ per GB! And you still have to pay the monthly fare!
In conclusion: Carriers really got us. Either live in a city that plans to put free wifi everywhere (Like Montreal, they plan to put free wifi EVERYWHERE in the city (Not the Island)and yes this is true) or create your own company that will offer reasonable monthly fares for data. Our carriers make an awful lot of money on our backs.
unlimited plans are better, i use up around 100gb on a 512kbps connection per month and it costs me around 20$
a whole season on netflix can plough through that 20gb in a day, and when they count bytes they always add both up/download...a limited data in the morning with a night time unlimited is good enough..
ProJames, 23 Sep 2016Ok it is like a ''Share everything'' plan as we got here in Canada. And by the way I do not... moreThat much of $$$ that one's have to pay isn't just for date(only) it is the whole package( talk, text, and data). But since it shared with other lines in the "family plan", it is 20GB of data for all 4 lines to share with. So which also mean whoever watch alot of videos online or doing alot of heavily data consumed activity in the this "family plan". You won't last for a week and after that since you don't have "unlimited" afterward. You start paying for more of what you use!
So by virtue of having more customers Verizon can jack up the prices and provide inferior service?
hahaha, 23 Sep 2016In Romania we pay 5€ for 40gb in 4g lte. Hahahahaaa.For € 5, you get 500MB 3G and 100 free minutes/SMS in Germany
Wrong. If we had unlimited mobile data, we could watch youtube videos, download apps and all these basic thing outside of our home. We could even cancel our home wifi and use only mobile data with these speeds of 4G today. But of course this costs money and would b better for the customer because he had to pay only one contract a little higher than two internet contracts little lower so the companies won't do it.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2016Stupidity... In estonia we have 35gb 50mbit plan for 23euro and unlimited 150mbit for 35euro ... moreIt's easy to make that comparison when you fail to realize that Verizon has more customers than Estonia has people.

I get 50mbps consistently on TMobile in New York. I wouldn't consider that crappy by any means.
I also have unlimited data (and no, I don't fall into the top 3% of users so I never experience throttling).
Telecom in USA is a crap. We pay a lot for crappy service. I wouldn't get cable in my life. 4G is a shame. You pay far less in countries that give you far much better service!
that's sound like Blockbuster, Kodak, and MySpace back then, refuse to adapt and innovate.

And by the way I do not think customers needs unlimited plans, but cheaper data plans. 160$ for 20 GB is expensive. Less than some countries, but some have really cheap plans (UK for example)
Voice n sms dying. This is their new way of surviving.
Collect the money with minimum effort, while sounding nice at the same tiime.
[deleted post]LOL, this pricing is definitely great. It's gigantic.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2016Unlimited is the whole point with "broadband" so the user can stream as much video/TV as the u... moreThat is so true. That is like having a Buggati with a litre of petrol. What's the whole need for speeds when you are limited to bandwidth? American freedom is fucked up for real.
20GB for $160???? I better stick to my 30GB for $30 on Airtel Kenya and if I exhaust it, I still get access to the internet at speeds of 256kbps until the month ends.
That is bullcrap, we in Asia needs unlimited data plan but even though I need that I don't use unlimited plan because ISP is just all bullcrap. To have unlimited data plan your speed will be cap at 64KBPS and that's bullcrap, they force people to sticking to volume data which offer a much better speed but people needs to worry with the quota because they will never had a peace with surfing internet worrying if they quota will be run out. Those who does not want to worry bout quota go to unlimited but unlimited is slow af. Those needs higher demand and better speed use unlimited from cable ISP but needs to install home phone and TV cable which out coming a crazy priced despite the offer.
