Why the consumer should pay for brand name....when their configuration is not even of Rs. 15000?
Its time to say GOOD BYE to Google phones in india... Samsung note7 and s7 edge gives much more advanced features.. Compared to this Google phone.. No ones spend so much money for a phone only for getting early updates of android because samsung phone also get that update for sure just a bit later....
There is no doubt that google must have done their part of market research in India. But setting a price tag at par with apple might prove detrimental to the public response. There are two types of people in India:-
1) Who choose value for money (Xiaomi, Oneplus, Lenovo etc) and
2) Who choose an accessory and are ready to pay for it (not all but most of the Apple crowd). The later ones choose it more for the status symbol and the brand name.
It is very unlikely they would like to pay so much for a brand name although proven with the legacy of nexus series, but not so established as a phone brand yet. Of course the nexus crowd loved it because of it smooth performance and a flagship feel at a upper mid range price. I loved the last year nexus 6P. The camera was one of the best we saw.
I was waiting for the next release from the software giant, with huge anticipations following every leaks. I wanted to buy this phone, but the price is just little too much for my pocket. Will probably settle down with a S7 edge whichisnow available for INR 50000.
My personal opinion for Indian Pricing that might have worked better for Google in India:-
Pixel 32Gb INR 47999 / Pixel 128 Gb INR 51999
Pixel XL 32 Gb INR 55999 / Pixel XL 128 Gb INR 59999.
If there is any way they can make happen while there is still some time for release. I would happy go for Pixel.

So called Pros of Pixel:
1. Google Assistant
2. Unlimited Storage for Photos.
3. 89 score of DxOMark for Camera (which probably isn't much better than S7 camera)
4. SD 821
5. Regular update
6. Amoled ?
1. Only 32gb In built storage with no MicroSD slot.
2. No water or dust proofing.
3. Design is either you find it okay or hate it ( their is nothing to love about the design with those huge bottom bezel).
4. No OIS
5. Battery only 2770 mAh.
7. No Gorilla Glass 5 ( May not be an issue for many, but greater resistance to shattering of GG5 makes GG4 a con IMO )
S7 edge, Xperia XZ, and even iPhone 7 are far better option than the Pixel at least in India.
Worth waiting for Nokia P1.
QHD display 5.2 & 5.5 inches display
Oh Boy! What a price, why would anyone buy a pixel phone when you can get an Iphone for a little extra. Iphone commands value in most countries and Pixel doesn't have that value as yet. Moreover there are so many Android manufacturers around so why would anyone like to pay this much for the same software.
Google should realize that only Apple makes Iphone. Android is slapped on by many manufacturers.
AnonD-190634, 05 Oct 2016what the hell? 1114$ for a phone :O you poor indians :cCome on dude, we indians don't waste our money on some overpriced shitty phone. There are are lots of mobiles in market to choose from. If we Indians want to, can buy google pixel in so many quantities that you white monkey had not think of😎
lol ! 57k INR well that's a lot for this less.Yep google you are done !!
funwithash, 05 Oct 2016I am feeling everyone is leaving space for nokia sammy is shocked by burning batteries iPhone... moreWhat Nokia? There is no Nokia any more ... at least not in the form it existed in its legendary years. It's dead just like the Blackberry.
Priced too high, for reference,
Galaxy S7 - INR 45000
Galaxy S7 Edge - INR 51000
Galaxy Note 7 - INR 60000
iPhone 7 32 GB - INR - 60000
iPhone 7 Plus 32 GB - INR 72000
(+ INR 10000 for each storage upgrade for iPhones)
With this pricing, Google can forget capturing the India market. Pixel should have started around 45K to be able to compete with other expensive Android players in the market. 57K is way too much when Samsung S7 Edge is available for around 50K and the S7 for 43K.
People who have the money would prefer buying an iPhone 7 rather than a Google phone at this price.
AnonD-352445, 05 Oct 2016trust me, Indians will pay an extra 3k premium to buy the iphone7 32gb. I mean i would, and ha... moreLol. "Tech geeks" would buy android over iPhone any day. Not necessarily the Pixel; but an android, nonetheless.
