"Why are smartphones getting bigger and bigger?". Two answers:
a) Because they (at least some of them) are increasingly becoming multi-functional entertainment devices, with the "phone" part becoming less and less central.
and
b) They aren't. They are beoming more diverse in size, with larger and smaller ones available. Which lets people choose what balance of functionality and size suits them. What's not to like?

i have always loved large screen and large resolution smartphones.i m waiting for its announcement date in asia and will definitely own one.i pity on nokia despite creating n8 still stuck with childish resolution.....remember the time when all other vendors moved to standard 320x240 but nokia still sold 174x220....i think they make these units in millions and until unless they are in stock they keep stuck with it...pity!
so sad, acer people does'nt know., what does a word MOBILE mean. itz portability which fit in your pocket.., not in a portable bag.

I always remind myself to buy what is best for me. For me, 3,7" is fine like you. Thus, I never spend much time to think about other phones that have larger screen. Less search, views, and comments is good message to manufacturers they are promoting the wrong product.

too big for me.nothing special only bigger screen
HTC HD2 with 4.3 display fits nicely in my shirt pocket. I was reluctant to buy such a big mobile at first, but now after a year, I just don't want to go for any smartphone less than 4" display.
Trust me, once you get used to a large display, you can not enjoy smaller displays. With mobile software getting complex and bigger, it makes sense to use larger display. Who knows that after using a 4.8" display for a week or two, you decide that even 4.2" screen is small. It is a matter of personal liking.
Design is very stylish and slim and it seems to have the perfect display to edge ratio, wheras on most phones you just have too much plastic at the edges of the display making the phone unnecessarily bigger than it should be. Would of loved a 4inch display keeping display to edge ratios the same.
ya, ya and this phone will be available 2012 2Q...
Sweeeeeeeet - want one.
no,no the best screen has nokia with its symbians,i would never bought huge but ugly low resolution screen
why are smartphones getting bigger and bigger? 4.8 inch is just too much if you ask me, even 3.7 inch is fine, if you want to watch movies in your portable device, 4.3 is also good but believe me you don't want to carry that around in your pocket or jeans (4.3 is as big as the sony psp's screen) and if you ask me the psp is already great for watching videos on a small device(but thanks to it's video format limitations this isn't really the best) but isn't a phone suppose to be pocket friendly? just stating my opinion here. .
Its really a cool smartphone. I would like to say This is a really Smart phone with high specs. Like it.
yayaya. then apple will release another new iphone and clean acer up. if they want tocatch the market, they should release it in jan
By reading the spec's it seems the price tag could me more then 750$.!!!
Impressive, but one thing is CPU, I miss dual core for such a big horse.
