Anonymous, 29 Nov 2010I'm using an X10 Android is a pain. I downloaded Angry Birds when it had 1.6 after I upgrad... moreso your going back to be one of steve jobs isheep? Just because you had a problem doesnt mean android sucks.

Just stay out of it, se not worth your money spend your money on other handset eg samsung and htc, se global share not even two digit around 9%, the design is awfull and support also lame I mean the update and the customer support. So leave se believe me .

I downloaded Angry Birds when it had 1.6 after I upgraded it to 2.1 I can't download it any more.
Android is shit.
I can't wait to get my iPhone 4 back, it's so much better.
Here's how the update works.
Check for update, you get directed to sonyericsson.com/update
Go there on a Mac or Linux system, bad luck you must have Windows, so you go back on a Windows PC.

When the new software is available, you will receive a message in the notification bar of your phone.
To upgrade, connect your phone to a PC and use PC Companion. This will guide you through the entire update process.
Information on how you backup your settings and data and how you restore them after the upgrade will also be provided.
If you don't have PC Companion already, download it via the button below.
New features include:
- HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos
- New back up and restore application, with extended content back up
- 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders
- Social phonebook which shows when your friends are online (Facebook, Twitter, Google Talk)
- Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1
Note that availability may be dependant on operator and/or market."
So you do that and install it then you plug the phone in and it asks to make a backup,but guess what the backup software isn't in the Android market, so you have to go into settings and allow other sources, ignore all the warnings and install it from Sonyericsson.
So you save your backup to the memory card and then you have to unplug the phone and plug it in again while holding the back button down, after a few tries (which is annoying as hell on an X10 because the back button is so frikkin' far away from the micro USB port) it will finally boot into update mode.
Then the waiting starts as the update downloads, with no indication of how big it is just a VERY slow progress bar.
After a few HOURS it finishes and you have crappy 2.1 Android which sucks.
