They won't risk anymore since they know that the replacement N7 catches fire too. If you were on their feet, I guess you will jump off the hill because of shame.

The engineers at Samsung weren't able to replicate the explosions because not every battery in the batch is defective. The trouble is that there's no way to be able to tell which batteries of the batch are the defective ones. The enemy of any electronic component especially batteries is excessive heat. Excessive heat breaks down components and will expose any defects within the components. Batteries are the most volatile part of any smartphone and they will go bad eventually, even the good ones. This isn't Samsung's fault. Consumers are demanding these sealed phones and this is the down side. The Note 4 was the best smartphone of it's time yet the people who value vanity over practicality complained about the polycarbonate back cover. Well, that removable cover allowed the truly tech savvy user to not only replace depleted batteries with fresh ones but to also inspect the battery for defects and replace it when needed. I've replaced many swollen batteries over the years from my Note and S phones and probably averted a disaster more than once. Hey, the vain and vanity oriented will continue to press for these expensive sealed throw away phones though that they can show off and "rock" in front of their peers at the club.

"Samsung also banned emails between testers, the NYT says, making it harder for engineers to communicate their theories or findings with each other about where the problems lay. The company reportedly feared legal action if written communications were to fall into the wrong hands, and told employees to keep their messages to each other offline."
What a sleazy company. They always try to do underhanded things rather than face the music.

The... moreI'm pretty sure they ran some sort of standard set of tests, which did not involve heavy operation of the device while its charging and other real world use case scenarios, just a bunch of "generic tests". Which is a normal practice for any company.
Honestly I'm just glad they did a recall and stopped selling the device till they fix it. It means company takes responsibility for its shortcomings. Hopefully, this will make future products a little bit safer.
I read report saying it is not due to the battery, in fact they dont know what the issue was. Their engineering department was not able to replicate the explosion.

I was expecting them to recall all units, take another 2 months or so to fix the battery issue, maybe increase RAM to 6GB as bonus, revise the CPU up a little and call it the Note 7S or Note 7+ (or something).
If they sold at break-even, they would, at least, be preserving the brand name in a way.
Samsung is such a failed and lazy company that scams consumers monies out of their pockets.
Instead of providing a third recall and replacement, they swept it under the carpet and announced a complete stop.
Better go for HTC or LG products. At least these are genuine companies.
it means every battery had chance of fire, why did not samsung go for removable battery .
They were in hurry to release Note 7 first before all new flagships, and definitely they did not tested the battery fully.
I like my Note 7. Waterproof, S-Pen... Can't get these features with anything in offer out there. Now, I'm stuck... which replacement option that I should go for. Waiting for Note 8.

It doesn't matter any more if they made a third revision and it was perfect in every way, the reputation of the model is (literally) blown and it wouldn't sell well no matter what.
If thats so is it safe then to put pressure on batteries by sitting on phone? Really I would welcome titanium case like in tesla.
I have inside information. Apparently one of the managers is a control freak, and he ordered one of the engineers to use the battery as a heat sink to cool the CPU as they didn't want a recurrence of the SD810 problems. The engineer didn't want to lose his job, so he complied with the managers order. Now the manager is saying that he never gave this order and wants the engineer to lose his job. I will post more when I hear of further developments.
Puzzling that Samsung did not make a 3rd attempt at getting it right if the cause really was only with the 2 different batteries tried so far.
