Abner, 16 Oct 2016No front stereo speakers is a no buy for me. Made by Google looks like a made by HTC.Stereo front speakers have no interest for me, each to there own I guess.
Unhinged , 16 Oct 2016Glad I got my new 6P while I still could. You can still get a new 6P or 5X, you just have to go to the Project Fi website to sign up.
Never had a good experience with nexus devices. Had a samsung galaxy nexus and a nexus 7 2012 and they both got crippled by each update. Just got slower and slower and slower. Never known that to happen with any other device I owned.
No front stereo speakers is a no buy for me. Made by Google looks like a made by HTC.
The thing about the Pixels is they cater to the same audience that thinks about buying an iPhone, and most Nexus users just wanted timely updates, security patches and a streamlined experience. With the Pixel you get bells and whistles that become localised and don't apply completely to the whole community. I believe Google should keep the Nexus line alive in the spirit of the Nexus 4, decent specs at a decent price. Not everyone wants an iPhone running Android.
AnonD-571916, 16 Oct 2016Maybe if Google sells the nexus name and someone like LG or Sony or even Samsung buys it. And ... moreWhat is the "Nexus look" - N5, N6, N5x, N6p? Each one has a different look.
with the Pixel line priced the same as the iPhone and with roughly 1/3 less software support, why would you buy this phone? The end of life support for Google is only 2 years, while the iPhone is roughly 3 to 4 years. So, now you're paying as much as an iPhone, but Google has even more insight, (deep integration) with your personal life, files, etc. Where's the value proposition here? They get more information about you for advertising and you pay more for them to have this access.
ProJames, 16 Oct 2016Why? I will miss the Nexus 5- like phones. Where I live, this phone was really popular since i... moreIf you happen to live in a country where the Nexus 5 was aviable trough google store, than lucky you.
In every other place Nexus 5 was very expensive for what it offered, and far away from very popular phone.
So if I remember correctly (nexus5) was less than a 100€ difference from SGS4 or One m7,and guess what people were buying?!I don't see anything different now.
No way is any sane person going to pay these outrageous prices for Google phone with mediocre features.
The Pixel phones will have the same fate as the Windows 10 phones, and the same fate as their Pixel laptops. The price will go down by the month and still no one will buy them. Why ? Because they don't offer anything new, they didn't put any effort whatsoever in them ("HTC, just build a bland, run-of-the-mill phone for us"), and faster updates only matter to like 2% of the customers.
Google doesn't know hardware, unless they build cheap hardware.
The phone is too expensive. Better buying iphone than this unproven phone. No SD card, only 4gb ram, no ois camera, top bottom bezel are too big n what type of fast charging is Google offering. Still a long way to go.
Mid and upper mid range Android One devices may see a wider release after Pixels. It actually makes sense for Google to produce a top tier brand and give any other company an opportunity to make affordable nexus like devices. Even the name could be back but never a top specced phone. Well stock runs smooth anyway. The worst thing about Pixels is no SD card slot. Bezels, waterproofing, stereo speakers all forgivable.
Why? I will miss the Nexus 5- like phones. Where I live, this phone was really popular since it is very inexpensive but yet very reliable. Still today it is. Sigh. But if the Pixel fails, maybe we'll see the Google Assistant on other devices?
That pixel price is like an iPhone price already.. When you think about it it's better to get an iPhone that this pixel with that price..iphone is really expensive but the software updates is always there.. Iphone 5 can get that ios 10 update unlike android it only supports 2 years cycle.. So if u think of a long run of support. Better get an iphone with that price point..
I'm using Nexus 6
And I'll definitely miss the Nexus line , definitely!
Its more about Google ldiotic idea of creating devices and milking money from it, instead f focusing on making android better by evolving. Because lets be honest Android, even in latest version is like grandpa who wear leather jacket and ride a bike.
For past few version we have covering old core and technology with new fancy addons, and addons only. We have devices that could run some PC games without a sweat if we look at raw power of it, but Android half of that power need to use just to keep it self run smooth.
Google need to recreate Android system, and create new way to milk money from its services, like it doing now, and where it get most of money. NOT make useless overpriced devices that have just some few fancy features but overall it nothing special.
Nexus platform was made to just show pure Android experience, it was platform for devs and companies as example of device for masses, it had average price, good hardware and it had system that give nice experience.
Pixel series is just another bunch of devices on market that will have...nothing new compared to other devices. most of fancy features that pixel phones will be replaced or erased from next versions just like most of google ideas over past few years.
Google think that he can alone fight in market with Apple and its iPhone, but it ending as Microsoft that everytime when touch hardware market it fail, and only some side projects actually work for them.
At more than double the price i paid for my Nexus 5,i certainly won't be buying one!
