[deleted post]The bumper case does not solve "signal" issues, but "stupid design" issues. It's sad that for a company like Apple the look is more important than the works. But then again it seems that Apple knows their clients very well - spoiled fangirls.

Anonymous, 04 Dec 2010it seems you watch utube and shout here without having real iph4i have no idea why you bring youtube into this, but you're right that i don't own an iphone4
a colleague at work though who has been collecting* iphones, picked one up on launch day
he had absolutely no receiption issues when using the phone
when i got a little spin of it though it did drop calls
and after 5 minutes of mucking around we found the difference
i'm left handed
* he's got 2 of each. one he uses, the other he vaccum seals in original packaging
[deleted post]... right
did you know that if you didn't have some kind of oil / grease on your fingers that you wouldn't be able to grip onto anything?
though most people would just assume leaving smudges on a touch screen just means the user has dirty fingers
In short the response is Don't hold it that way in more complicated words
HTC has eratic reception issues now and has had since the very first. I owned three different devices and finally gave up and moved back to Nokia. HTC became a phone of choice in the days of win mobile because of all the software available. Just notice as I do when your friends talk on an HTC device how you or they are moving the phone around there ear to hear and excuses like I am in a bad location and on and on. I still have a few friends using HTC and we go through this all the time, i just say ya I understand.
See,there is nothing perfect. Not Nokia, apple Iphone, samsung or htc...etc. I love my n8 with all it good and bad side, like you love your iphone, galaxy, wave,or whatever your phone is...
"......., like you-know-who." Lol, Lord Voldemort..
Never happen on my HTC devices before :)
Happy HTC user, 04 Dec 2010first of all I love my legend and i never suffered from any loss of reception, never as long a... moreTake an HTC legend, turn it on it's side as you view a webpage, cupping the black bit at the bottom, watch the bars drop.
I noticed it when I was using one last week.
there is difference between this and the iphone4 death "grip".
with the original release i could hang the iphone4 in mid-air using string, then by only using the tip of 1 finger i could drop the bars displayed from 5 to 2.
since then apple has "adjusted" signal level vs bars displayed via an os update so that the top end has a much wider range before it considers diplaying 3 bars or lower. though by the time you hit that point you may as well manually drop the call.
first of all I love my legend and i never suffered from any loss of reception, never as long as I have this phone.
All those Nokia and Apple users and the Apple user just should shut up. Apple corrected the issue quite quickly so you may have a perfectly fine phone....
What, a perfectly fine phone?? Yes, I as a android user think Apple is ok. Really! No hard feelings. I mean I don't care if you are fashion victim or if you're a genuine Apple iphone user who is utlising the phones full potential... All those people who are bashing each other because of the phones are just sick. I don't think you would talk to each other like that in real life. I've never seen an iphone user at the airport slaying an android user or the way around, this is just silly. The market will show who will survive or be bigger, but please respect other people and don't be so intolerant...
im using htc hd7 for two weeks i never experience any kind of signal problem whatsoever so far. its the best phone. !!!
[deleted post]just go out of your house and see how many iphone user!! just don't stay in home n shout
I have the HD2 too and as David form Stockholm mentioned it suffers from the same problem. However I never lost the reception completely either. I don't know if other HTC phones or devices from other manufacturers state this in their users' manual but in the HD2's I've read this:
"To assure optimal phone performance and ensure human exposure to RF energy is within the guidelines set forth in the relevant standards, always use your device only in its normal-use position. Contact with the antenna area may impair call quality and cause your device to operate at a higher power level than needed. Avoiding contact with the antenna area when the phone is IN USE optimizes the antenna performance and the battery life." (HTC HD2 User Manual WWE, p10)
It seems that the phone chooses worse performance over higher power level operation. Although trying different radio & rom combinations may proove useful - I even managed to double the battery life while still having strong signal reception, so I suggest this to anyone having problems like these (users with different locations and different carriers may require different radios but I'm sure everyone can find the best one after a few tries). But the most important thing about this part is that they know it, they state it clearly, they don't try to mask these problems and point at other manufacturers that "oh, look at this and that - they have that problem, WE don't, only YOU users don't know how to hold your phone"...
