A dated UI is not going to rescue the OS even if it has superior battery management.

Great...I guess Google doesn't see it as important to add smart dial though. Other than that, it looks like some pretty decent improvements.

wow, its sort of sad that EVERY one of the things listed in this article as a "new feature" for android 2.3 was already out for symbian and the n900 over 1.5 years ago... stability and battery management seems like that best feature... no "wow" factor with this update.
