hahaha software fix ..IT'S A DAMN HARDWARE ISSUE . really does google take it's customers for such stupidos LOL
Great to hear a speedy resolve. Also good that they are on top of feedback immediately. Bear in mind it says, it is only "on certain" angles which as you say, a lot of cameras do. My good Cannon does also sometimes. So any improvements for that is welcome.
It is fixed in few weeks= the next few weeks batch will not have this problem. Got it? Software fix? Lolz funny.

To be honest, this d... moreGoogle has been adamant in insisting that the camera is good because the processing is good. Processing = HDR+. AKA if you turn off HDR+, you won't be using the camera to its full capacity. The problem is, there's several situations when one would want to turn HDR+ off. There's some nasty artefacts around high-contrast edges when the function is on, and of course HDR+ isn't avialble for third-party apps so if you want to use full manual controls or save to RAW, you'll be getting an inferior image. Google's statement also says that if HDR+ is turned off, you'll get the flare back. I seriously don't understand how a software option having to be switched on all the time is a good thing, but Google certainly wants to make us believe so. http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/18/13315168/google-pixel-camera-software-marc-levoy
Note7 owner, 26 Oct 2016Looks like a lens/hardware issue. Don't know how software will eliminate the problem. The same way you can remove lens distortion in Lightroom. Of course, this isn't ideal, and I don't get the PR mentioning it as a pro that all lenses are equal. If they are, this should've been flagged in QC.

"we will release a software update to improve the effects of this issue". To be honest, this doesn't sound very encouraging. The lens design of the Google Pixel seems to produce flare more than other designs. Any software "fix" will not really be a fix, it will be a bandaid with mediocre effects at best. Just live with it, or return it.
