i wouldn't say vertu is nothing but quality... here's a pic for proof
http://home.iprimus.com.au/peterly/fvertu.jpg
you pay 42k for a phone that has bits falling off within less than a month worth of use
ps: its my boss' phone
I think the Vertu is the best phone, truth be told if these bache coonies think they can afford one they are crazy. I am a billionaire because of my Archery fame. I am the best archer in the world and I will hit a bulls eye with the Vertu. You guys are lame and I am looking to shoot arrows at your dreams.
This is a exotic phone man, it is alwas my dream. i wanna it so bad!
Well said gagbag, guys who want this phone cant get it, simple as that. I like your honesty and thats gonna get you far my man. I bought a Vertu Accent and used it 2 months, but this one I ordered because it is the size of the 8800 but a bit broader. I hate to say this, but the LV's the Chanel's and the MB's are what drives most people to achieve , but they may not be achievers. People who are happy and successful are usually achievers, mostly happy with what they got, and not condemn what they cant get.
I'm not rich so I can't afford to buy this phone.I think its a great phone.I have every device that replaces the packed features of a phone like w800.So buying a phone like this just for the looks isn't a bad idea.8800 is more of my price range. The guy who said he sold his MB.It must have been your bad luck.Do you think MB wins awards for making sh*t cars? No!All this shows is you never had one....
@ Adnaan
It sure is nice to see someone who understands Vertu phones for what they are (which, sadly, only an owner can really do). As for the rest of you who seem to HATE these phones...you sure spend alot of time talking about them...and any psychologist can tell you you're either jealous or overly insecure. As for the comment about these being a waste of money that would be better spent on poor/homeless in the world >>> wake up, you think some small financial contribution is going to fix this place's problems? Hahaha...buy a vertu and enjoy it while you can.
Tarantula,
Maybe you missed the ads, but it actually takes slightly more than a leather casing to turn a 6131 into a Vertu. If you are interested in the detalis, I suggest you use this site: www.google.com, and perform some light research.
You have made clear that you consider the S40 somehow too ordinary for use in a Vertu? Why? I mean, it works. Would you rather want a special UI, let´s say S40i with golden menus to be developed for a high price so that the UI would feel less "cheap"? If I understood it correctly, the Vertu phones are never about features anyway...
Oh, and slightly off-topic: You said that let´s say Mercedes cars cost more than ordinary cars because they are in some way better built and more exclusive. Exclusive? Yes, you know, leather seats, silver borderings, silver paint and that... But the engine, the technology! Good? No way, I had a Mercedes a while ago and nothing inside worked properly. The electronics for example were totally dead and the roof actually leaked.
Now I have a Renault, no real issues after 150000. So what is the difference really? Leather seats and nicer design, still people buy these things.
Same goes for the Vertu-phones, nice looks and fine materials but otherwise it´s the same old 6131, and still people buy these things.
I cant believe a phone is stiring up so much emotion! I purchased a Vertu Ascent about 5 weeks ago. When I got home my mrs went ballistic, but after seeing the phone she loved it. So much so that she wanted one herself, and two weeks ago I bought her the Ascent in Pink. The reason why these phones cost so much is becasuse they are worth that much.
Most people think why spend so much on a phone when you can get a phone for free. Well you cant get a phone for free, as you are always paying for it through your tarrif. So instead I got a phone on upgrade that I have sold for £500 and bought a Vertu. Next year I'll take my upgrade again and sell that too for approx £500. So thats a grand off the Vertu there. Plus the concierge service is free for the first year, and that worth £600pa. So over 2 years the £2900 phone is only costing me £1400. Bit of a bargin I think.
The concierge service is well worth it. I use it a fair bit and I definately get £600 value out of it per year. I dont have a secretary so this is cheaper than employing one.
The phone itself is beautiful. Even my accountant who is usually a tight wad thought so too! Evertime I use it it turns into a conversation piece. Everyone has said it might be expensive but you can feel the quality.
The screen is saphire crystal, so its gonna cost. They keys are laser cut, and the ceramic pillow that is the ear speaker takes 2 days to polish and it shows. It looks and feels 100 times better than something like the Nokia 8800 which my wife used to have. You can tell when you pick it up that its something special. It comes down to if you can afford it, and Im fortunate enough to be able to...
Lots of people knock the lack of features, in which case this phone is not for you. I never used my camera on my previous phone because if you are a serious photographer you will use a proper camera. I need a phone to make calls and occasionally send texts. I also need somewhere to store numbers, meetings and my to do list. Vertu does all that. I dont need it to play music (I drive everywhere), or take pictures. My previous phone was a O2 XDA IIs and I hardly used the functions. Pointless for me.
Compare if you will to a swiss watch. It does less that a japanese watch will do but costs more. Why? Its called quality.
Finally just like to say if you are searching for reasons for the phone, then move on. You've missed the point entirely and this phone is not for you.
This mobile is only a ststus symbol. Its not for functions.
VERTU user buy it bcos they wan to be differnt and buy it for the status and not function. This is a statment phone adn not a function phone like Nokia n series. Fashion phone is very differnt from function phone adn some pl dont understand it. No one is forcing everyone ot buy one. If you cant afford it, you dont have ot buy it. If you wan ot buy it, go ahead.People criticse it badly bocos they r jealous or envious or other reasons and not being able to afford it..
How to compare cars with phones???
Mercedes, BMW, Rolls Royce offers to the user a lot of refinements in a motor, suspension, big motors and electronics. These refinements youll never find in common toyota or nissan (except in their luxury divisions: lexus and infinity). These refinements offers better driving and performance of the car in the freeway! with the plus of the luxury and design, on the whole a BMW, mercedes, etc gives a luxury sensation and good performance and stability and it makes a worth if you have enough money. Simply because youll buy a different car in every aspect!!
Mercedes never take a compact car with little motor and put in it leather, good electronics and sell it at US$300K... never!
The last figure is the case of vertu, really is the same phone 6233, 6111, 6131, with leather and ceramics buttons.
Where is the exclusivity if this luxury phone has the same UI and electronics like other cheap nokias in the market??
Dude i hav enough money to get the collection in my room but c'mon money didn get a shot at makin me crazy. I prefer my n93 and the alienware alx. I giv money u giv me som back. I buy these junks and i'll forget of them most of the times because they wont deliver me anything in turn. Dude if ur 80 and a big grandaddy, then ur welcome.. the latest tecks wont amaze u... those old fasioned ones wud obviously wide their eyes on stuff made of gold. I am not old, and I am not out of my mind to buy these virtu stuff. But no offence, all has their own point of view. Oh another thing... I'v seen ppl comparing this worthless Virtu phone with cars like Mercedes and stuff. If u say so, i'd say u dont drive one then? I drive an SL65 and its no where near the so called goddamn phone.
i have the vertu signature, as one of my collection, and they are excellent. i will definately be purchasing one of these. living in sandbanks, in dorset, it isnt a high crime risk area, and nobody will be able to get it because of the security gates and guards
I don´t understand this "shame on you Nokia"-concept. I mean, yes, these phones are not aimed for normal people, yes, their features don´t match the price and yes, they are quite much useless. But so are jewelry, BMW and Mercedes cars, people buy Vertu products for the same reason. People with too much money buy these things. Why? Because they want to show to themselves and everybody else that they CAN and have the money buy these things. i mean, if you can buy the most expensive one, why not do it?
I´m not rich but I find it very hard to imagine that everyone who´s rich is in some way a bad person. We are all different.
I have never seen a Vertu phone live and will most likely not ever see one. Who cares...
if you must feel the need to point out to people that you have this type of girlfriend, and this amount of money, then it leads me only to believe that your shallow, oh and yea... you actually dont have the moneya and or status you brag about. and wait... oh yea, like dude101, you have "That small body part"....... this is a phone, you dial people with it, and thats about what you can do with this model phone..hmm no thanks, dont want to get ripped off when i'm doing just fine with my nokia n80
this phone is rediculous, not to mention the fact the specs are pitafull. this is for the man who needs to over compensate for that little body part. you pay for a nokia and some melted gold...are you kidding me? yea, def - i'd rather donate the money to people in need. wake up society!!!! shame on you NOKIA
I am from Singapore and I simply love Vertus. Definitely I can afford one of these, but with the high crime rate in Singapore, I wouldn't risk having my hand chopped off, don't you think so?
Thankfully I am residing in a private residence.
No lift robbers to worry about.
But anyways, do visit Vertu at Paragon to have a live feel of their phones. Really lovely.
I rather buy a Rolex for that money. At least their material and craftsmanship is better than a Vertu. It's like sticking a few diamonds on a 3210 and calling it a luxury phone.
Well, all I can say is that Ill never be able to afford a phone like this. Its for the big boys. For the average man, a "plastic" device with more practical features would suffice
Please Guy Tak it easy... It's a phone a deluxe phone a piece of jewlery. You buy if you have money to show it.
