Samsung just need to update the software, that's it. But, Samsung decided to delay updating Galaxy S with Android 2.3 while they're selling yet ANOTHER new android phone with the "latest" OS. It seem pretty obvious what Google intent to do here. If you had to buy a new phone every 6 month to receive the latest feature google is offering. What's the point of having an open platform OS?

They lost not because they don't have a touch screen device, they lost because of their outdated OS. How do you explain the N97 flop and their other touchscreens at the time of Android's rise? Symbian is just no match to Android and iOS and that is the reason why Nokia is moving their N series to Meego.

Just wanted to point out to all those who are commenting on Android bringing out multiple phones in an effort to sap peoples money; Android, i.e Google do not bring out lots of phones, the nexus one launch was substantially more than the 3 months ago it is claimed Google released a handset.
The argument is a little like saying " A new windows device is launched every week."
The Galaxy S launch was quite a way behind the Desire with Samsung having to play catch up in the Android smartphone stakes. Now When the market is ready to move on Samsung having gained their market share have been comisioned for the new Google phone. Samsung also have their part to play in making the iPhone, there is always something new around the corner and it is good to see phones coming out fast with manufacturers pushing each other to new technologies and better experiences. I wouldn't want to think manufacturers were holding off from launching a great new product just because they hadn't given it a long enough grace period since the last launch. I want tomorrows technology today.

It seems most of the users agree that symbian is good but basic and android is better!
The only person who lives in another world is deep space( mr.outdated). He just keep lying on himself by pretending that symbian is better, which will never happen by the way.
Even symbian users here admit that they like it because it's simple, but at least they are reasonable and admit that android is much better, faster and smoother.
Deep space I know you think your cool, but seriously if you continue with such attitude people will refer to you as an uneducated idiot. So stop making a fool out of your self and just accept simple facts.

Symbian is a dying os while Android is still growing strong, and the best thing even for Nokia would be to move into the Android-world.

nokia is the only one that makes symbian phones now
and android phones are produced by like 7
for every one symbian touch screen phone
there are 6 - 9 android phones
if samsung and sony moved to symbian3 there would an equal amount maybe alittle less
like around 5 or so
