I have a free government phone (UL51) from Assurance wireless through virgin mobile on the Sprint network and 3:30pm Friday 2/28/2020 I received a SMS stating messenger enhanced features enabled. I have tried to enable it on my five different phones before I got this phone, including one that was the same model (UL51) as this one, but it never worked. The odd thing is that I chose not to even attempt enabling it this time.

Verizon can't really call themself "the next-gen network" if they favor the ancient SMS and MMS over RCS

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2016Not bad, google. Is this messenger same as allo?In fact, google messenger is the app to send and receive SMS that comes with the Nexuses and Pixels( you can downlod it though) its like your default messaging app but a bit better .
Allo is like whatsapp but from google, it packs features like google assistant beta ...but it cannot send SMS and receive them ( hangouts can though)

iMessage may be better now but im sure allo will surpass it in functionality and features soon. One of the clear indicators of that is the mere fact that eventually the majority of google apps being offered on IOS platforms, even though the platform has its equivalents.
Also be mindful that even though a google app may fail its immediately replaced with an equivalent with upgraded features so continuity is also there.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2016Allo>iMessage>Google MessengerAllo better than iMessage? That's simply just not true, regardless on if you're an Apple fanboy or Androideer.

Features, encryption, user base, cloud backing, everything is superior on iMessage.
