I call bullshit on Samsung returning phones bought 2nd hand..
I have had my "safe version" powered off for 3 weeks trying to return it.
According to my latest email I received tonight from EnR Samsung they are unwilling to help. After 3 conversations with them explaining I bought mine new in the box after it was just replaced with the - Safe version - from an online add. They have said it would be exchanged but I would have to wait for them to go through their long list of exchanges ahead of me. It has been 3 weeks and I got this response tonight.
Note 7 refund/exchange ticket #1120920275. Thank you for contacting Samsung Note7 Exchange and Refund Support Team.
Your device was purchased from an authorized Canadian Samsung dealer/Carrier which entails that you must refer back to your place of purchase to seek further instructions. Regretfully EnR support team is unable to assist in this matter.
Please kindly contact your place of purchase.
I give up... They know I have no idea how to contact the original buyer, and have no clue where it was purchased. I met the buyer in person at a bell store and had them verify the imei was good, and called Samsung to verify the warranty was good... and yet... I have spent hours on the phone and email information exchange and still have no way of exchanging it.... they simply do not care. Well maybe they do... since they have my imei I turned it on today for the first time and there was a forced update ( auto update off) that restricted my charging to 60% and gave me a message to call the number I started all this with a month ago...
The explosions of the Note 7 is just a sabotage I guess to tarnish the image of Samsung. Who are benefiting are the other competitors. Simply you take a few Note 7 units on an adhoc basis and just set it on fire. If Samsung really cannot find the root cause of this issue then it is obvious that there is something fishy about the incidents. I guess rather pointing the figure to Samsung one should thoroughly investigate the incidents properly. Otherwise incidents of this nature will just destroy a company who could contribute so much to modern mobile technology, which I guess is a very bad thing to happen.....

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2016Frankly Note 4 is better than Note 5. Similar SoC, removable battery and storage, same screen ... moreI am inclined to agree. With the note 4, you have more flexibility with a user-replaceable battery and expandable storage, performance enhancement isn't very large with the note 5, and everything else is basically the same.
After Note7 was recalled I noticed an interesting phenomenon—some people were trying to get as many of Note7 as possible by advertisements. They were willing to buy even at higher prices. It isn't clear now whether they were hoping for a refund from Samsung (not a high possibility as there weren't many of these kind of phablets in Europe) or in order to add this phone to their collection as these phones are getting rarer and rarer by day.
Samsung Canada sent me an email and said that they will also take internationally purchased devices (ex. Canadian buying from USA or Singapore) and refund you the amount in Canadian dollars converted at the time of refund from the currency you paid on your bill of sale. So it's not just limited to buying in Canada.
New definition for insanity is when you have been given all te chances in the world to exchange your note 7 for a non exploding phone and you still choose not to.
AsusTech, 09 Nov 2016S7 Edge is still better if you are not taking the Note 5Frankly Note 4 is better than Note 5. Similar SoC, removable battery and storage, same screen quality. It's only disadvantage is that it is a tad bigger (but not by much)
Wow. I'm really impress on how Samsung handle the Note 7 fiasco so seriously.
Anonymous, 09 Nov 2016Without S-pen, I will wait for the next Note phone. Better go for Note 5 for the meantime.S7 Edge is still better if you are not taking the Note 5
Without S-pen, I will wait for the next Note phone.
Better go for Note 5 for the meantime.
The key word here is "may". It's not "will" or "still".
