Its a good lead by example case because if Apple can't manufacture (or at least assemble) in the US then what chance is there for other companies?
It's almost beneficial and preferential to be a third world developing country these days. Ridiculous. Thanks globalization.
livefearless, 18 Nov 2016I think the reason why trump do like that is because,he just hate chinese(anti-chinese),becaus... morenope, Trump plainly wants every US-based company to be exclusively operating in US, that is his main goal as a president, second is deport all nonUS Citizens with criminal records and suspend every J1 passports
I think the reason why trump do like that is because,he just hate chinese(anti-chinese),because alot of big brand have a factory in china because due to the low cost, saving budget, and if that thing make in china, doenst mean its low quality, its all about a material they use and quality control and branding, apple, sony etc, have assembly factory in china, but still have good quality
but if it make from it origin country that much better, but the cost..
This is bad, there is some something good, but the bad outweights the good for a very large scale.

It's not just price and wages, it's all about scalability. Foxconn employs 250-450k employees in Shenzhen alone, you can't hire that in the US in 2 years, impossible.

It is no that simple moving iPhone production to the US. Definitely is not within one or two year. How about making component too. Just read link below. Article and comment:

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2016Make Apple great again!Agreed...again...
Well, at least it's finally becoming a bore to look at...
The reason why the manufacturing prices are so low for products made in china is because they have tons of workers that are being forced to labor like slaves for very small compensations. Moving production to America will indeed help the unemployment rating there, but I can bet that they will never work for less than minimum wage. Apple will definitely lose profit margin since they make them cheap (about $200) and then sell them at around $600-$900. Crazy, right?
Anonymous, 18 Nov 2016When it comes to quality, which is better: Made in usa or japan? There is no difference at all if all the aspects of quality assurance are in place. Commercially viable out of China? Nah...
Probably the worst idea of all time the patriotic folks would love this but those folks must be rich, the price would go.up like crazy smh funny how lots of Americans believe If its made in the USA it will be better those days are long gone America is behind in virtually every industry
Do it! At least this is one happy aftermath after Trump was elected (I don't judge Trump, but this is the first real aftermath of his election, maket stocks acting crazy don't count).
Thanks for injecting politics into a non-political technology site. Some people don't want to know about politics no matter what right now. Another website I have to blacklist.

Made in usa or japan?Japan... In terms of innovation...
Well, Japanese phones like Sharp and Fujitsu had LTE support when the rest of the world are still playing with 3G...
And now many phone brands uses Sony camera modules... And with Samsung battery rupturing, even Chinese brands had switched from Li-Ion to Li-Poky battery cells from Sony...
