Because if they abandon this they can offer you a 25% larger battery inside the same space and you won't need to swap it in the middle of the day.
Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016So, if you buy a V20 plus 5 batteries, you could use this phone for more than 10 years?Battery degrade in all case, if you use or not. So buying lot of battery is useless.

Tourettes Guy, 08 Dec 2016If that's the future, then there's no point of buying future flagship phones thenArguably V series (LG) is even higher end phones than G series.
So -no- that's not the future. Also Samsung returned removable battery to some of her phones.
...those are fads that come and go, we're currently experiencing a slump, eventually things will pick up. Silly to buy a phone during the slump (or at least buy a V series).
Similarly with big bezels. They made a return for a time, but they are now going away again (s4, moto X and generally phones from 2013 had small bezels; now such designs return). Bad ideas have a way to be washed away, the trick is to not buy during their peak.
squareny, 08 Dec 2016It'll probably come included just like Apple, still better than LG's latest stunt. The future ... moreIf that's the future, then there's no point of buying future flagship phones then
No LG dont go the way others are going with non removable battery if you do atleast keep it in V series. V20 was the perfect phone please LG abandon those friends but keep removable battery like V20 and go glass on metal back like pixel glass is easier to break and I dont want any covers so LG please stick to V20 design and build release it all over the world you will be successful
The lack of a removable battery might be OK for their G series. But it would kill the V series.
no reason to choose LG over other androids, other than removable battery...... how can I give my old phone to my kids without changing out dead battery!!!!!!! Just make it removable without being so small ----- more like LG v20 but bigger
Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016Man are u stoned? Who's gone buy a $900 phone and then have to buy a stupid separate adapter? It'll probably come included just like Apple, still better than LG's latest stunt. The future is non-removable batteries, no headphone jacks and maybe even removing microSD card support too! I'm not stoned just realistic but I wish I was lol
mmj321, 08 Dec 2016When there's technology with which you can charge phone upto 80% in 15 minutes why do you need... moreYou still need a plug. You still need to swap your battery when the li-ion cells get old.
Integrating a consumable (that batteries really are) is a madness. Especially on a phone that you have just paid several hundeds bucks and maybe wishing to keep it for years.
Also most phones need at least an hour to charge, a swap is almost instant and if they were to integrate a tiny battery to let the phone stay alive while swapping , it would literally be instant.
Way to go LG, instead of improving what was almost perfect, you return us to the stonE age. Bye, bye LG...
squareny, 08 Dec 2016You're so biased this move is way worse than Samsung removing the headphone jack lol at least ... moreMan are u stoned? Who's gone buy a $900 phone and then have to buy a stupid separate adapter?
k0l9, 08 Dec 2016The headphone jack, is enough for me to stick with the LG G6 and keep my high-end headphones ... moreYou're so biased this move is way worse than Samsung removing the headphone jack lol at least they'll give you an adapter or buy a cheap third party one if you must, there's no workaround for the lack of swappable batteries though.
dr. nr., 08 Dec 2016I would prefer removable battery, V20 got it right and working?! I would love to see something... moreI feel like I posted your comment :))
I am onto my 4th battery in 4th year. Thinking to do below:
-V20 if it comes (and if camera glass doesn't break in further reviews)
-Buy a Xiaomi Mi Max if I can try and see it fits me well (forget removeable battery)
-Wait further new phones. Note 2 still rocks!
Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016What a nonsense and pathetic comment. With non-removable battery phones (in other words, plann... moreNot exactly. If you take the phone to the service store, they could change the battery...(if they have the battery).
Bahaha I love seeing LG fans losing their collective minds over this like it wasn't going to happen one day, let the hilarity ensue!
Hermes1, 08 Dec 2016Its a good thing too. Mobile store will stop selling these batteries which usually expired wit... moreWhat a nonsense and pathetic comment. With non-removable battery phones (in other words, planned obsolescence phones), you have to throw away the whole phone every year, because you can't replace the expired battery. This is what increase the e-waste.
If G series for non-removable and V series for removable, it is acceptable.
Anonymous, 08 Dec 2016removing the removability of the removable battery is probably just about economics. Access to... moreI agree totally with this poster,Non removable batteries allow for water proofing and dust proofing, Whilst most people will keep there phone for no more than 2 years given most contract periods, It means that by the time the rechargeable battery begins to fail, You would be in possession of shiny new phone with more power and graphics etc.
The shelf life of most mobile phones is about a year and is comparable to the PC market with a new processor or graphics card coming out every 6 months.
removing the removability of the removable battery is probably just about economics. Access to the battery has to be provided which costs more than just sealing it with the rest of the components inside. Providing for access from outside a water tight sealing like the sdcard and sim card would cost even more. On the other hand people will not be replacing their phones every few years forever and will then have to go to the shop to have the battery replaced when worn out.
