Jack Hobbs, 18 Dec 2016Sorry to rain on your parade, but it will die, it's just a question of when, support for these... moreMy parade is soaking mate I'll continue to use windows phones alongside my Android device. windows is good enough for me. That's all that matters and so is Android as a whole.

Do you swap phones every month or two and buy at release? I don't. I bought LG G2 in 2014, my phone is around 2.5 years old. Back then LG G3 was already available, and thanks to that LG G2 price was more reasonable than at start of sales. Now Lumia phones are reaching more reasonable levels, so I checked it out.
i still woudn't give 300$ for a SD810 device ... just saying ... i would't give money for a z3+ /z5 or a gflex 2 etc .... SD810 is a defective SoC ....

WP has its own set of advantages over iOS and Android, but those unwilling to spend time with learning it are most likely to find it frustrating in many aspects, even stability. It's really nowhere as easy as iOS and way too different than Android in usability and OS mechanics.

G2 was released so on 2012 ? :) and 950 2015 ? why do you even try to compare these phones ?
Windows phone was not successful because people did not like the tiles, wanted a more flexible home screen, and there were not enough games available. 4 or 5 of my friends told me the same, their windows phone was ok, but they did not find x or y stupid game they loved so much. All the apps I needed I found them in store, since I don't play games on phone. I would buy 950XL if I had money available for this right now
Anonymous, 18 Dec 2016It is still definetly not a bargain! Edge is the worst web browser ever, it crashes constantly... moreNever crashed on my 950 xl;) Lizeraly, never. Since day one. Yeah, the day the system was on alpha mode (at least, this is how it fealt;)
i using phones with windows fro year now from w6.3 to w10 - i was a fan :)
every edition is the worst one (chrashing, slower working, apps stped working...). i'm switching to apple or android system.
950 for this price is still to high!!

You just saw the phone for the first time, if you do not know how to work it, why didn't you ask for help, instead of coming here to display your ignorance.
If you are not used to the menu (live tiles) of the device, does that mean the rest of us are daft like you? Don't worry we know how to use it, and we like it more than the static icons on your android.

When you said parts of menu names are lost in between... moreCalm down, mate, if you absolutely love windows phone, buy all the stocks and use them for a lifetime, no problem, I won't stand in the line for one of those, you can have them all :D
I'm just saying as a consumer I find Windows Phone OS kind of weird for OS.
When I navigate to music menu (or some other menu, not sure which one exactly), I only see a part of the name, like USI and a part of C. Not sure which apps or tiles or whatever had that effect.
About tile organization - its great that you can customize them, but... I just saw the phone for the first time, how would I know they're organized in some reasonable way and that you can pin anything there? It just shows me a ton of tiles instead of a home screen. I prefer home screen where I can put only those shortcuts I want, and a separate menu with the rest of them. Personal preference. I used Xiaomi device which threw everything on home screen with no "apps" menu, but didn't like that approach enough. But I do prefer to swipe horizontally for "desktops" rather than vertically for "tiles" - one short horizontal swipe gets you whole screen, one vertical swipe, to do the same, would have to be rather long.
Anyways, to each their own. If you love windows phone so much, go ahead and buy it. I'm just saying I tried it and didn't like it. Not my thing. It certainly has its good sides, but I'm used to a different menu layout.
oli, 18 Dec 2016that's a lie loll.. one things windows is amazing for is speed and simplicity. If you've used ... moreSwitching from camera to gallery to opening full sized image on my LG G2 with significantly slower (pre-previous model) processor is much faster than on Lumia 950 (don't remember weather it was XL or not). And that was the main reason I put it away - camera was a significant upgrade over LG G2, which has a decent camera itself. Camera being one of my main points of interest in a phone.
Maybe a perfectly perfect clean phone that has been launched for the first time after reset 5 minutes ago performs better, but I compared my phone I had in my pocket and phone in the shop. The one in the shop was slower. Going through the menu wasn't a problem on either, switching from camera to gallery to zoomed image was. Very, very slow.
HelloBullSht, 18 Dec 2016ex 1020 user here. is the app scene in w10m any better now?No, it's gotten worse. Lots of stuff that went "universal app" last summer has been pulled from the market. Lots of broken promises from Microsoft regarding Edge browser and ad blocking. The app store situation is a lot worse than it was 2-3 years ago.
My 950XL is basically a portable web browser with camera now. That's the only thing it does better than a dumb phone.

the comments in the windows mobile news is always hilarious ... well i used to have lumia 730, but I cannot get the win 10 update no matter what in my region. MS should have sent update regardless region, or, have the customer to install via PC. soon lower tier windows phone wouldn't get the "ultimate" update which OS can run x86 program in ARM processor. I haven't heard of 950XL being tested to run x86, so I think it would be wise to buy HP elite instead of this outdated chip 950 XL. the test device to run x86 program is HP elite after all.
