There is no way to change that, once it connects to the internet or a different network the update will push to the device.

Solution if you despertly want the phone is to pull the sim card and root the phone. Strip out everything samsung. If it can't recognize you, it can't update.
I have seen clone phones of the Note 7 from China which looked exactly identical to the real thing, so those of you who dearly misses their Note 7 can consider getting one if you can live with 2GB Ram and only 16GB built-in memory... Can use the stylus to scratch your head should you regret getting one in the future...

This is probably the only thing, where smartphones does not evolve. And gives a lot of problems. But issue was because of battery layers, also it had not enough space for battery. So batteries expand over time, and negative and positive layers breaks all layers and touches each other, and boom, "explotion"

If u connect to cellular data/wifi, update will happen immediately. Also disconnecting devices does not need updates, just block imei ir whatever so note 7 cannot connect to cellular services. Samsung HAD to do this thing after recall... why couldnt they just do it or send warnings...

I am sure... moreIf you've read a previous article regarding the issue, it's alleged that not the batteries are at fault, but the phone's design is. We're yet to see official words from Samsung.
