Anonymous, 02 Jan 2017love the idea, but how about its battery?? this feature will drain the battery even fasterIf it's done by wire then then worry, the battery will be safe. When connected to monitor, the phone only need to send digital signals which won't drain your battery life drastically compared to cast screen via wifi.
AnonD-548804, 03 Jan 2017So you plug the phone into a tv? And it turns into a desktop pc? What's the pointWhere An Earth You Are living ?
- TV ? That's Aint TV Dude That Is A Monitor In Computer !!!!
It's good, but I'd love Microsoft's idea to bring full blown Windows to phone better. If they can manage the heat, battery and storage issues; probably I won't need android anymore.
I presume Samsung's idea is just to extend the display and the extended display's UI will be made different (desktop like GUI). Lag is unlikely with upcoming H/W spec. The issue is whether we drown to this gimmick or not. Some will just try it few times then boring and some will just ignore it. It's a phone after all.
AnonD-119121, 02 Jan 2017Don't worry about it... When you will connect your S8 with external Monitor.... it will need t... morecharging while using its peak power consumption it will kill the battery faster, we need to change the battery soon, while its a unibody phone... ughhh...
AnonD-404798, 03 Jan 2017''Last year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips''
are you sure you don't want to co... moreYou sound absurd. Most laptops run low end i3s, Exynos 8890 blows them out of the water. There is no debate there (just look Geekbench 4 and Linux tests)
Have you paying attention to the yearly 40% performance increase on mobiles or you have moved under a rock in 2007.
The good thing is though...if Samsung does this and we see it in April/March. For sure Apple will come with their own....lol
As long as powerful smartphones are as expensive as they are approaching $1000 then it makes sense to save also having a standalone PC/Mac/Chrome box. As powerful as smartphone are nowadays then perhaps the smartphone will run ChromeOS or Andromeda (=ChromeOS+Android) on the external monitor with keyboard and mouse simultaneously with Android on the smartphones internal display. But - it must be hassle free taking no more than just placing the phone in a dock to make the external monitor come alive seconds later.
Too bad it is still Android. Microsoft has already pioneered this anyway. Old news...
Maame Raggae, 03 Jan 2017Now this makes MS the leader in the continuum business, surface phone should come soon Dreams:)
Anonymous, 02 Jan 2017Last year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips, so there's certainly will be horsepower.... more''Last year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips''
are you sure you don't want to correct that statement ? because it's absurd .
and I had in mind bad software , not the hardware .

Dovice, 02 Jan 2017Did this with my Note 4 two years ago, with mouse, keyboard and ASUS portable projector via MH... moreConnecting with PC or monitor thru USB cable, means charging at the same time. Right?
So unfair for ubuntu...They were the first to ever have thought of that, but due to lack of funding or resources or whatever they couldn't bring it that much further...I hate capitalism...
Anonymous, 02 Jan 2017love the idea, but how about its battery?? this feature will drain the battery even fasterDon't worry about it... When you will connect your S8 with external Monitor.... it will need to connect to the external power source too.. Hehehehehehe...
AnonD-404798, 02 Jan 2017it's gonna lag for sureLast year's exynos was faster than most laptop chips, so there's certainly will be horsepower. If it is to lag it would be down to software inefficiencies...
Having said that it would be useless with no windows support. I would had dug it if Microsoft could sell licences to Samsung to boot Windows when in PC mode (full Windows with x86 app support).
AnonD-39937, 02 Jan 2017this looks like a Chrome OS interface, maybe this is a plan for the next Android version.Yes definitely anything available in Samsung after 1 to 3 years comes to all android devices and then a lot of plp will say pff "Huami+5" do the same with half the price.
