Still no nougat in sight. As mentioned before: don't buy Samsung if you expect timely updates.
Or just don't buy Samsung. I'm now learning this lesson.
That's nice, as long as you're not tied to an American carrier. I did an early upgrade and sent my day one Samsung S7edge back to Verizon last friday for 3 reasons.
1. Still sitting on the October 1st security patch which it received on November 16th.
2. 32Gb of internal storage was not enough for my needs when the SD card did not feature adoptable storage.
3. False touches that seem to have gotten worse over time, or maybe, I just noticed them more, and got tired of trying to hold my phone "just so".
Samsung has done a good job in releasing the updates, it's the carrier's that are the bottleneck in the US, needlessly.
I'm sure the US carriers will be glad to release the security patches, and even the OS update, after the S8 is on sale. Very transparent.
If updates are important to you in the US, you either buy a pixel or an iPhone. That's pretty much it.
