Something isn't quite right with the HDR yet. My xbox one S supports HDR and when I turn on netflix or amazon with my xbox, my TV flashes a prompt "HDR" in top right corner indicating and HDR source. The TV then switches the viewing mode to HDR. When I updated my 2015 shield last night, neither netflix or amazon make the HDR prompt appear. I have not been able to figure out if there is a setting somewhere that I need to messs with

I have the original and it has done 4k from the start, and for an update to support HDR quite a while ago. I can see the update and the new shield may support it in more apps than before, but that isn't what all these misinformed bloggers are saying.
The 2015 Shield TV has supported 4K and HDR for some time, July 2015? I am not sure why publishers have not realized this and keep saying it's just now coming. What *is* new is the smaller size, missing SD slot, new controller, and includes remote. It's uncertain if both the 2015 and the 2017 box will get Google Assistant, I haven't seen any official word on that. https://shield.nvidia.com/blog/what-is-hdr. http://www.howtogeek.com/251204/how-to-enable-4k-playback-on-the-nvidia-shield-android-tv/
Yea, it's not released for the 2015, it's released for the 2017. They put the release notes under the wrong one on their site and a bunch of sites jumped on it. NVidia says it will be out in the next week or so.
No update as yet normally start hitting devices late afternoon the last 2 updates arrived after 6pm uk time really looking forward to this update 🤓
me neither
Shield is an interesting device. Powerful enough to play games from a decade ago, stream the rest from your PC (best function! Honestly) and of course a fine media center, much better than most out there.
With all that in mind it's still overpriced for what it offers. If it was not an experiment and Nvidia wanted to compete Nvidia should have been selling half of what PS4 goes . At its current price (close to full consoles) it's still a hard recommendation (unless you wish to ... Experiment as well).
Having said that can't wait for shield 2, although I expect to be ticked off (again) from pricing. Honestly guys, don't price it close to current gen consoles. If I want to spend that kind of money I would obviously prefer a PS4...
The update isn't available yet for me...
