., 07 Feb 2011why jail break in the first place get an andrydThe most androids are expensive, google's spies, plastick iphone copies with not so many and quality applications like iphone's and with update limitations.I don't care about flash or system file manager that I already have with the easy legal jailbreak.Since I pay I want them all and I want them now...

People who get pissed with apple they don't know a lot for the Iphone and I understand that.I did not talk only to you Corey but more to those who post like they represent apple when we are all customers and people with will like the hackers who made jailbreak. Also I was talking to those who think that jailbreak is illegal and also just know that if Iphone gets restored with official Ios it doesn't loose any waranty.BTW the whole matter is the freedom of choice.

To the ignorant who say jailbreaking is illegal it's not. please do a little research before you post. Per the Library of Congress."Check out the full statement from the Librarian of Congress, which is mostly an update of existing exceptions on record, after the break, but here's the primary excerpt:

Computer programs that enable wireless telephone handsets to execute software applications, where circumvention is accomplished for the sole purpose of enabling interoperability of such applications, when they have been lawfully obtained, with computer programs on the telephone handset. "Lawfully" the jailbreak in and of itself is LEGAL. Downloading apps of people's hard work without paying for it is illegal. Yes Apple can void your warranty, but that doesn't make it illegal, That's their right. Just as if you purchase a car and they tell you not to use certain aftermarket parts , as this will void your warranty. Can you go to jail for modifying your vehicle. NO,NO,No. Use common sense and educate yourself.

greenpois0n. Absolute legends. Now i can upgrade my firmware.

Jailbreaking your iphone is not imperative but is definitely worth it. Jailbreaking and installing Cydia is one of the best things you could ever do.
As if the iPhone couldn't do enough already, you can now modify and fully customise the way your phone looks and install lots of different sources and packages to help improve the already fantastic usability.
Jailbreaking iPhone is not illegal; nor is modifying the way it looks.
The only thing that would be illegal is when you install 'Installous' and download copyrighted apps that you would normally pay for, for free.

If you have to hack it to make it do the things you want, you should have bought another phone.

And don't lie saying that you did and returned it like many other apple haters. IOS is about as smooth as butter with intuitive user experience designed smartly from the ground up unlike other Os's who just throw a bunch of crap together and runs like trash. Now couple ios with jailbreaking is endless love. Try it, you will never go back, I promise you.

The app store is already amazing with ton of apps. Jailbreaking allows you to have another store called Cydia with more amazing apps which gives you endless functionality. Hate it or not people, this is why the iphone is the best phone on the planet. Why do you think the 1st gen. iphone still sells better and hold more value than any other new phone on the market? Numbers don't lie.

I just get the whole jailbreak thing. Why buy a phone that you're not going to enjoy unless you hack the thing. That makes no sense. I know with Android you can root different core OS types and things like that, but that's essentially reprogramming the thing. I think if your rely on a Dev hack to enjoy your device, I think that would be a sign to replace the thing. I've never cared much for the iPhone to begin with, even to this day their still radically over rated, these jailbreak releases just enforce my thoughts even more. It's like people just line up for the abuse, buy a phone with lots of potential but a creator who says what you can and can't do, and goes out of their way to limit things on it. I just think it's worth it. I'll stick with my Android device. Besides when I want to use an unauthorized app, I have the option in the settings menu.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2011Can anyone tell me, wot can you do with that "jailBreaking" or wot is different from... moreBasically, you know how everyone says that the Iphone is useless cause it let's you do nothing?... Well, jailbreaking your phone lets you do everything!!! Custom themes, download basically any app on the app store for free, share my 3g with other wireless devices, use facetime over 3g and not just over wifi, watch youtube videos in HD quality over wifi, put one touch call icons on my springboard using my contacts faces, etc.etc. you get the picture. And whoever said that jailbreaking makes your phone feel cheap when you is on crack. When I hacked my n95 8gb a couple of years ago, it practically made the handset useless, but not with this device. If you manage to screw it up, you're doin something wrong.
