Anonymous, 22 Jan 2017By the way who cares about multi core score.Multicore performance is important on any OS except iOS with fake multitasking.

No one with an ARM arch license, other than apple, has been able to build such a monster. Honestly, it's probably all about cost, though, since the cyclone+ have such a wide issue and dispatch. So, maybe you're right, but then why is that? Consider that iPhones really only this dominance in two (related) areas: certain benchmarks and DOM construction. In everyday usage, iPhones and Android devices provide very similar experiences.
well the 2016 Moto Z is XT1650-03 (in Europe).. so very likely to be an upgraded Z
(the Z play is XT1635-02).
Could be they brought the Z Force over the pond, and gave it some steroids.. if we are lucky.
Perfect... I have a Z Force and my girlfriend has a Z Play, 2 phones with 1 day battery with full use and gaming, and 2 mods, the hasselblad is amazing zoom in concerts and is 100% optical zoom and stabilized and the JBL sounds, works perfects when you do a ride for the park in bicycle.... Ill waiting the new model with calm :)

They are essentially two quad core chips set up in such a way that maximizes power and efficiency. If they had not done this then they would have to sacrifice power for efficiency, which is kinda what they did with the 820, which was why it was inferior to all its flagship competition in terms of CPU performance. This did translate to real world performance too. The 820 was slower than all competing chips when it came to game load times.

Firstly, it gives more points to HTML/JS-related test than RAM speed which is more critical. You do a side-by-side browser loading test, iCrap is slower in comparison to any flagship Android phones. Secondly, it doesn't scale up well with multicore SoC. In fact it only maximizes Core 0.
The single score we are seeing here is from Core 0 only i.e efficiency core 1.9 Ghz.
Jimmy chow, 22 Jan 2017Why use a picture of last years motoflop. Just confusing people. Sales wise maybe but the phone itself is fantastic.

My laptop has only 4GB ram and does a good job and I have another laptop that has 12GB and both perform almost the same.

AnonD-491921, 21 Jan 2017Seems like RAM craze stopped at 4GBNot really! Any self-respecting manufacturer hoping to keep up with the latest trends (and future-proof their phone for customer's satisfaction) will have 6GB RAM in their 2017 flagship line-up.
Heck, we recently even had the world's first 8GB RAM smartphone unveiled....

That is what you are trying to say. 4gb ram is about to be outdated as standard, and therefore it should not be standard in a brand new flagship. Win xp and 2gb ram is also enough for a good computer, but I guess you have at least 8gb ram and win 10 on your computer ;-)
There is still enough space in the chin area, so please don't use on screen buttons, specially for amoled display.

1. Apple makes their own SOC and os. Which allows them to design and change both according to their need. Hence, the efficiency, utilisation and performance factor is always gonna be higher than android OS and the SOC it uses.
Secondly, android is open source os. Most of the companies customise its material design, theme, features etc but not its core and ram management. That's why android devices score less on single core than A10 on compute performance tests like geekbench.
If we really want to compare SOCs, then we should run those tests on android with A10 or iOS with SD835. That will be true apples to apples(no pun intended). But, it will always remain a pipe dream...
AnonD-528139, 22 Jan 2017the question remains, do we need 8 cores?. whatever good comes from having 8 cores is an impa... moreYea, that's why Intel i7 is still stuck at quad core and laptop and lower i5 and i7 are dual cores. Although GHz is able to be higher if there is proper cooling or the architecture is good enough to handle more. My dream is still a processor (looking at apple because everybody else would be too shy to "downgrade" from 8 to 4-5 cores) a very big leading core, 2 mid-sized cores and 2 power saving cores. And then the system would automatically switch on and off the cores from what there is needed. It doesn't even have to be clusters, but the system picks a combination of which cores will be best to solve a specific task. And of course all cores would be able for little overclocking (but not too much, we don't want a new Note7) and underclocking
