AnonD-291, 10 Feb 2011im sure there will be lot of people in india, china and other Asian countries who would prefer... moreActually, no.the main reasons for symbians success in developing nations is that you don't have to pay for anything.a new game gets released. All you need do is wait for about a month, binpda hacks the game then you download it for free. That's why symbian developers ran away.people don't but stuff any more. Also, symbian is not very network dependent. You can easily run a symbian device without having a internet on your phone. Whatever you need, apps, games, music, you can get viz bluetooth or though a pc. Also, symbian devices are used to access free internet. Nokia can't drop symbian.
Here is a possibility though. Nokia partners with microsoft to make wp7 devices. However, nokia would still continue with symbian and meego. This would need nokia to have z say in wp7 development and qt integration into it. The finns won't sit back and let someone make their os for them.
bloomberg says that Nokia Is in final stages of talks with Microsoft. I wonder how a Nokia wp7 device without even simple copy paste option would look like :P
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2011If Nokia chooses Android then bye bye from Indiaim sure there will be lot of people in india, china and other Asian countries who would prefer Nokia with android rather than symbian.
AnonD-1216, 10 Feb 2011you`re absolutely right! Why didn`t he mention such brig markets as China and India. Not good ... moreMr. Elop was raised in the style of corporate America. He used to be the head of Microsoft Business Division. He was brought to lead Nokia as a complete outsider and he is not someone who rose among the ranks at Nokia. He became CEO because of the American investors at Nokia.
nokia build new os from scratch symbian^3, symbian^4, maemo, meego. but they forget to try build radicaly ui change for symbian, capasitive screen for n900 and slim vertion of it, capasitive screen for low end class, ovi store for country than dont used to credit card and camera face theme.

Android is doing just fine without Nokia. It is Nokia that is rapidly sinking with their Symbian OS. I really hope that Nokia does not adopt Android or WM7, that way Nokia will just continue to go down, and then let's see what device you will be using :)

Let's wait to hear for the grand plan of this CEO. I'm still holding out hope that Nokia will choose Android over WP7 but it would also be good if they will use multiple platforms like HTC and Samsung.

it's like force feeding a kid that doesn't wanna eat anymore
symbian and meego/maemo have Qt
nokia just need to light a fire and have more creativity and soul for their OSs
they already have the tools they just need the speed and and efficiency to get it out

I was just telling Kyubi what Nokia can do to differentiate itself from the rest of the Android OEMs. What I wrote was something that the Android OEMs failed at. Nokia just needs a handful of Android phones and lavish them with support and updates and it will quickly gain momentum and a following. Support and updates is what the Android OEMs failed to provide to its current customers.
AnonD-291, 10 Feb 2011building an ecosystem, platform takes much more time than making a new phone. thats why nokia ... moreThat's unless you've been working on that os for months. The new symbIan ui is scheduled for april. Meego is about ready and IS currently being rid of bugs. Nokia is on track. Do you think nokia can roll out an android or wp7 device faster than they can a meego one? Keep in mind that they currently don't have the staff to work on android or wp7 and their lawyer job listings didn't include any such related openings. Keep dreaming of nokia dropping any of their current platforms. I'm not talking as though I know what the man has planned but as I know what he couldn't possibly do. And that's ditch symbian or meego.

Recent example is 5800, which turned into "new" models like 5230/5530/5535 or even C6-01....just minus wifi or 3G and there goes another "new" model.
This company pumps out more models per year, vs. certain company only releases ONE model per year.

If Nokia can provide that level of support under the Android platform then the customers will buy it and become loyal. Nokia can also differentiate itself on the hardware level which is the specialty of the finnish brand.
I felt let down by my Android OEMs but the platform is just that damn good that I'm sticking with it.
