They don't need MeeGo. MAEMO has all the potential

Its the CEO ability which can take the company to new success level or can doom the company. A good CEO is one who has patience, maintain his intellectual, insightful, acumen behaviour during the bad phase of company. in case of elop,he is bit shake by the hype created around nokia by techies and now little bit in fear. ELOP MUST STICK TO HIS MAIN DECISION OF CONTINUING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SYMBIAN AND MEEGO. As NOKIA HAS SPENT HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THESE PLATFORM and differentiate from others is the quality of Nokia. JOINING ANDROID/WP7 AND MANUFACTURING THESE DEVICE WILL NOT BE A GOOD IDEA IN LONG RUN except in north america.

Nokia will never abandon Symbian and Meego, friday's announcement will most likely be about OVI services, and OVI ecosystem, they
could adopt Microsoft's live services and have a
deeper integration with Windows
AnonD-171, 09 Feb 2011i really don't believe it's him or if this is what he really said..........i;ve read sites all... moreUpdate: We've now heard from multiple trusted sources that this memo is indeed real, and was posted to an internal Nokia employee system. That makes it one of the most exciting and interesting CEO memos we've ever seen -- and we're absolutely dying to see how Elop plans to shake things up. (engadget.com. http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/08/nokia-ceo-stephen-elop-rallies-troops-in-brutally-honest-burnin/)
i think it's a rather interesting memo. It's not disrespectful to the nokia, and i fully agree in what he said in the memo.
Okay, it's internet too many trash going in without filter, there is no 100% sure correct info on the internet, but at least some website do give a valid reason and i believe something this big (it even out in the local website from my country) will be heard directly to stephen elop himself and if it's incorrect, he will give open statement that it is incorrect (just like facebook denies its facebook branded phone).
And please forgive me, i don't mean to insult. You don't have a solid reason of the statement you make so i don't really buy it. Well, i'm excited to see what nokia will do to earn back the respect it deserve. Cheers :).
Nokia, there is an old and gold saying: "The king is dead. Long live the king !" Serve the king, until he dies, or be crushed by savage hordes... Act until it's too late. It's a painful loss, I for myself have to admit it, as a faithful Nokia and Symbian palladin, and I don't want to move to another castle. But the king Symbian is dying. Let it die with honour and be remembered as a good and faithful king. Let him pass the power of masses to the new king: Android. The time will pass, and Android will die.
But not today.
Le Roi est mort. Vive le roi !
throw 1 phone with android it will be a hit in good range
the plan is top make a phone thats desirable. everyone wants. and looks good. and will be a good price.
so i wont hold my breath then.

READ THIS ARTICLE-
www.symbian-freak.com/news/011/02/european_mobile_carriers_hope_nokia_will_avoids_android.htm
key notes-
~According to a report by the Financial Times, Vodafone, Telefonica, and France Telecom are afraid of the growing iPhone and Android duopoly, the site reports. These operators feel that were Nokia to adopt Android, it would further polarize the Apple-Google duopoly that is forming. They are concerned that Apple and Google will consume and own the market.
~Europe has generally been far more sensitive than America about concentrated market power, especially when it comes to American technology companies. Last year, Microsoft was forced to implement a browser choice screen for European users after the Norwegian browser maker Opera complained that Internet Explorer was anti-competitive.
~It’ s not a huge surprise then to learn that European carriers are worried about the iPhone and Android ruling the market. If Nokia went with Windows Phone 7 instead, the Euro smartphone market will be more balanced in terms of platforms.

a memo that is sent to his employees like this seems fishy and right before their conference is even fishier and then MWC next week tuesday....even more fishier then ever
i know for a fact working at companies a boss or CEO would never send out a memo like this at all
something is up cause elop never said anything about the memo and it's not even mentioned about on it's own nokia.conversations site
so i think some wrote this cause stephen's full name is not even on the damn memo in the first place
go look at how a memo is written and you'll see that something is up
and as well some guys posted some garbage about nokia a few days ago and it was only engadget that got it
and look.........it happened to be some random low grade blogger that wanted to make nokia look bad since he hated nokia so much
Now, here is news for all you android fanboys celebrating victory.
Lets start here. This pathetic sentimental writeup is not a memo but a blog post by elop on his private blog. That explains the vague language and statistics.
now, here it is. There is no chance in hell of nokia adopting android. I'm but just saying this as a loyal symbian fan which I am but as a rational observer. symbian currently has a strong position. Its moving at good pace. The new ui is coming out in april. Qt support is now in. why such it more? Its just not possible. What nokia needs do right now to prevent further market share slide is release a number of midrange s3 services to compere with the droids in that category. A platform switch effectively kicks nokia of of business till q4. Mobile phones aren't made over night. besides, nokia doesn't have the staff to port either android or wp7. Their recent job listings also don't include for any android or wp7 related options. rather, the finns posted for more meego developers.
Yall would be suprised when elop climbs the stage to announce that nokia would be continuing with symbian and meego. The only other possibility is him announcing nokia partnering with microsoft to remade awp7 device though this is very unlikely as like I said earlier, mobiles aren't made overnight. What's good in nokia announcing a wp7 device or droid if it his the stores in q4?
It is all a big advertisement for the big coming change on 13th February !
They have a big change and mostly they will launch many Android devices or at least in the begining one or few device to save thier market share and growth
He's basically shaking the company up and making them realise that their lack of attention to the market and change has cost them greatly but the company can rebound from this and they are right not to choose Android and to choosing Microsoft isn't to wise to me either. They need a ecosystem like the rest and they'll be fine. If you paid attention to the letter it's not the devices themselves but the ecosystem that's defeating Nokia and a little inhancement to the UI to Symbian would be fine as well but when it comes to the hardware Nokia rules hands down.
Finaly, now that they have addmitted it, maybe they will go back to making great phones. They may need to get rid of the designers tho, if they release anything else that looks like the N8, no matter the tech inside, it wont compare to the 'smart phones' on the market and coming into the market this year
