[deleted post]actually i respect this guy. What he said is the truths and he's willing to admit a defeat. But let's see what he can do to revive nokia. If it's me, i will give up, oh well, he's not me so i'm sure nokia still has hope :). If Nokia manage to capture my attention once again, i will give another chance.

Let's say Nokia is a senior citizen, well respected but lost ability to keep up.

Come on guys. Be fair. Symbian GUI is dated and needs a refresh but the core is perfectly good. Redevelop the GUI drop Meego and launch a WP7 phone for the USA as they don't like Symbian.

Deploy QT on WP7 and launch the app store across the Symbian and WP7 platforms. Symbian to should then hold the mid and low range and Nokia can adopt a wait and see option. WP7 with it's higher demands can take the top end and the operators wil like it as Apple and Google won;t control the market.

Meego can maybe be foldered into something with Ubuntu for mobiles? Have nothing to do with Nokia but keep QT

Nokia's strength is in the physical hardware and design of its phones. If you don't turn them on or turn them on just to make phone calls, Nokia devices are excellent. Once you start performing many smartphone functions, you find that Nokia devices just doesn't give you a good experience compared to other leading devices.

It appears that Elop understands that Nokia's biggest weakness is in its software/OS/UI which does not provide as good a user experience as its competitors. He seems to also realise that MeeGo won't be here in time to stop the bleeding enough to ensure Nokia's long term success. This (and the news that the N9 phone has been cancelled) indicates that MeeGo is simply not ready in its current form and that improving it will take too long.

The other thing I have noticed is that Nokia has been taking a long time bringing its products to market compared to other companies. This seems to have continued under his watch with the highly anticipated N9. If Nokia is going to change direction, they need to show the results of the new course sooner rather than later. Nokia already had big challenges already with competitors gradually eroding Nokia's market share away. Now, they have to try to recapture that market share while almost starting from scratch.

Tsar, 09 Feb 2011One of the mistakes nokia has made is to chanage is mobile naming system quite awkward.. C ser... moreCorrect, it was stupid idea to change model names to C's , X's .. so on.
But the biggest mistake was sliding downhill with own OS'es on their aresses while even Samsungs newborn BADA was climbing upwards!
I bought Wave with Super AMOLED and I am happy. N8 was my second choice but it came 8 months late! Nokia failed to impress for 3+ YEARS!

After read the whole memo, got a feeling that:
                              1. Symbian will be faded out of Nokia’s picture in a very short period of time.
                              2. Meego may not be released after all due to its slow product development.
                              3. Nokia may focus on more low-end products to meet the market demand.
                              4. Nokia realize that Apple already has an upper-hand in the smartphone market. They may focus on how to catch up with Android in term of sale volume.
Well, good luck Nokia. Your platform is not just burning; it has already burned to the ground. Nobody else is willing to invest in Symbian, time and $. Time to leave the past behind and move forward

Well done Nokia, you've just given ammo to the Apple fans.

in a way, i'm a nokia 'fan boy'. i don't like the iphone in any way since the begining, not like the RIM, because only business users would fully benefit it. i like the android, but the 1st gen is too complicated. but please read on.
i like the nokia 6620, which is my first smartphone, back then i packs everything, the battery could last 1 whole week. so i decided later to buy the flagship n93. it costs 800 bucks, which i had to save up for a long while. but i don't regret it in any bit. it's a fantastic phone. till now, i have never seen a phone packed with such a great keyboard, the buttons are big, responsive, the camera is fun, but to be honest not as good as they claimed. but it is a foundation of Nseries. later i switched to n95, which is fun, but they lost the interest in design. later in the year, as n97 emerged from the news, i got excited again. it is designed by the same man who made n93, and 97 is a great phone. packed with everything you ever needed.
ok, as i said all above, nokia has made many good phones. BUT
but the build quality is just unbelievable. 6620 has a flow with the software, which they never be able to fix it for me. n95 power button failed while using. n97 screen button just fall off by itself.
nokia always known for good quality, but for the past 3 yrs, i have serious doubt about that.
symbian^3 is the same as s60v5 with 2 more 'pages' in the main screen, which i think they stole from samsung. v3 is just stupid.
n8 is just simply dumb, cannot switch battery? nokia dies on me about twice a month, without removing the battery, how am i gonna use it. e7 is great! but why E? because they don't want to put the meomo or w/e the name is in it. they have promised that Nseries will pack with meomo. not to mention the waiting of n8 since the announcement is so long. n97 i have waited for more than a yr since they said it's coming out. so many disappointment, yet i'm still waiting the next n series. but that will be it. if the next nseries doesn't have a q-keyboard, or the new OS, i'm off to buy an android.
but this is it. last nokia. which is to be announced mid of this month. or is it?
